Gimme a Little Bit a Sugah

My friend and I are debating about sugar intake. The recommended allowance is approximately 22-24 grams per day. If one apple has 20 grams of sugar, how are you supposed to stay under the minimum each day? And also, if you can only eat one piece of fruit, fiber is going to be tricky as well. What's the deal?

fiber can come from beans or whole grain products, I have both psyllium and bran fiber in my kitchen that I add to any dish that will allow it (mashed potatoes don't complain having either added and it sneaks fiber in for those that might not get there intake otherwise)

Sugar from fruit I don't track, I only worry about added sugars.
  • I've been buying products like whole grain bread and cereal that has lots of fiber. Apples have fructose, right? I think that's a better sugar than plain table sugar.
