Accept the person and personality. I don't accept that people like to be overweight or obese.

Yeah I try to let the behavior that I can actually witness be my guide. If I see a 400 lb person walking down the street, I don't know their story. Maybe they've already lost 50lbs. Good for them.

When I see my morbidly obese relatives, who need help with the legs because of their diabetes, refuse to drink something other than regular coke because they just don't like the taste, they deserve what they get.

personally i think more people should just stop giving a rats a ss about what other people think of them.

im losing weight because i didnt like what i looked like, not from what anyone else has said. and yes people have been telling me i needed to lose weight for a long time (even tho i was only 20kg/40lb overweight)

I totally agree that people SHOULD stop giving a hoot about what others think, but on that same token, do they?! And the judgment does go both ways in terms of "fat acceptance" or "skinny is IN" or whatever.. . . I am still looking for the page that says, " I have had 3 kids, and I decided to stash 10lbs from each pregnancy, stop judging me!"
    *kidding*
I love all people of all sizes, and its totally true that people should definitely MYOB, but on that same note it should work the same across the board.

I heard it best when a friend of mine says in response to an arguement. . " says the person who is judging the person for judging"

It's really all pretty comical! :p

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm finally accepted in society! :D
  • I don't think unhealthiness should be embraced by society, and nor should the unhealthy make pathetic excuses to remain unhealthy. But of course, we should not discriminate against fat or skinny people based on the way they look. True, some people are larger or smaller than others due to some factors such as genetics, but that doesn't justify laziness.

Are you saying you took a picture of someone and uploaded it onto Facebook? Because this person was obese? I really hope that you aren't saying you did that, because that's what the argument should have been amongst your Facebook friends underneath that picture.

The Wikipedia article you cited says: "Proponents of fat acceptance maintain that people of all shapes and sizes can strive for fitness and physical health." Which means they aren't accepting eating and being unhealthy, but that the acceptance comes from accepting that people are different sizes and not all stick skinny.

I truly feel that I can be beautiful at any size. I did not give a crap about my weight until I found out that both my mom and my grandma have diabetes. Now I am trying to lose the weight. I don't care what anyone else thinks of my size, and I never have. I just want to be healthy. However, if I could be healthy and fat, I probably would, just because it is easier. I just know that if I stayed at the weight I am for the rest of my life, I would almost certainly get diabetes when I'm older. I'd like to prevent it if possible.
