Hi everyone-newbie from NJ here!
I am charting the use of my food and watching my caloric intake -however I seem to always be in the negative by dinner when it comes to protein but have plenty of calories left for the day. I have been doing cardio 45 mins every day (only for about 2 weeks now) but was concerned if I add more protein I may not see weight loss. Any suggestions?

I have read a few times from dedicated members that MFP does rate the protein a bit low. You should be okay going a bit over, I did and still lost for sure.0

I always go over my protein. I don't really see that as being a bad thing.0

MFP defaults protein to 15% of calories, way low barring underlying health issues, I changed mine to 35% protein 35% carbs and 30% fat.
My home..goals...change goals... custom....change percentages and click save if seeing protein in red bugs you0 -
The program I was on almost doubled the protein to 100 for a female at 5' 3 1/2" I lost 30 pounds. So I think you can recalculate your protein and be just fine.0

Protien is one of the few catagories you can (and should) go over on. By default MFP expects you to get about 15% of your calories from protien. If you are doing any kind of exercise this is definately on the low end of what your body really needs.
Go over all you want with protien, just watch out for fats, carbs and sodium. Those are the biggest inhibitors.0 -
MFP's protein goal is only 15% of your calories. That's far too low, and I found I personally couldn't even lose weight eating that little protein, and by default, that many grams of carbs per day (but that's me, not you). I changed all of goals to fit me and everything is going fine.0

I adjusted my protien to 35% as well. Of course, I live on protien bars sometimes, or at least feels like it LOL0

Protein still equates to calories which is 4-cals. Just make sure the total calories in the amount of protein you consume doesn't go above your calorie maintenance or what your calorie goal is for the day. And you won't be gaining any weight.0 -
