there a lot of ways one cheat meal a week ok, what are your goals? how fast do you want the weight to come off. are you working out?
  • What do you mean by "regular meal"? I feel like I eat a lot of regular meals and stay within my calorie range. For example, a good dinner would be chicken breast with some rice or potato and a steamed vegetable. It fills me up and it isn't high in calories. If you feel you're not allowed enough calories to eat how you would like, try exercising a bit more. Then you will have extra calories to add to your day.

    Good luck:smile:
  • I think you're goal should be to make your meals as "normal" as possible. Unfortunately, most of us (myself included) feel that when we need to loose weight, we need to deprive ourselves of all the "normal" foods and only eat certain things. The reality is, this isn't something we can do for the rest of our lives and as soon as we stop, the weight comes back on again. I've been having to do a lot of work on my mind to change this perception and try to change my eating habits without depriving myself, then binging later. I am also trying to become more active. Best of luck!!

When you are just starting to change your eating habits, I would recommend not eating "regular" food, and by that I assume you mean junk food? Once your body is used to the different, healhier way of eating, you will not want to eat the food that is bad for you. At least not as much! Just keep at it and your hard work will pay off! And if you slip, and have a "bad" meal, or a cookie, don't beat yourself up. Acknowledge it, and start fresh with the next meal! Good luck!

I'm not quite sure what you even mean by "regular meal". I have regular meals EVERY day.
Maybe it would help you to know that MFP ISN'T a "diet", it's a "lifestyle change". I eat regular foods, I just watch my numbers, and get in exercise if I'm going to be going over on my daily allowance.
I usually have oatmeal with blueberries for breakfast, either salad with fat free cheese and spray spritzer dressing or a piece of toast with peanut butter for lunch with Lay's light chips for lunch, snacks of an apple and a Fiber One bar or Special K bar, and a supper of meat, potatoes or rice, and a veggie or two. I even save enough numbers to have my favorite snack at night of Edy's slow churned, no sugar added icecream! It's fantastic, doesn't taste "diet" at all!
So see, normal eating, every day, and I've managed to lose most of the weight that I've wanted to!
I'm sure you'll find it the same, once you "work" with your numbers.

    Hiya

    Look at this:-

    http://bodyforlife.com/

Body For Life (get the body you want for life in 12 weeks and keep it kind of thing, it really works...)anyway, it suggests 6 days of exercise and one "free" day. It suggests that for example, if you choose your "free" day to be a Sunday (most people do but you don't have to) if say you see a donut on Monday and really want one, put it in your "free" box....so, when you get to sunday, after 6 days of exercising and eating really healthily, you can have it guilt free. it's physically impossible to undo all of your hard work by having one day a week when you do eat what you want. obviously, it doesn't mean if you fancy a hamburger every day of the 6 days you can eat 6 on the free day, but you get what i mean.

i've been doing this calorie controlled diet as well as alternating my exercise as suggested on Body for Life and i always give myself one day a week when i eat something i like. not to pig out but just not to stress out!

    it's working for me

    good luck!

I dont see anything wrong with eating a normal meal although I dont know what you mean by that but if its a certain type of food just eat smaller portions..Normal could mean heaping plate fulls...or if you mean normal as like say italian dinner...just dont over do with portion size and shouldnt hurt you..Sometimes it helps eating alittle something that you really like than going overboard with it later.
