MFP vs Spark People

Never heard of spark people, I used to use Calorie Count, but didn't find people as friendly or supportive on there. I like MFP community better.0

Just checked it out. Got a headache from evrything going on in the site. MFP rocks it!0

why would you? MFP is time-sucking-of-my-life enough.
SP is a lot more "busy" than MFP in my opinion. i need straight-forward.0 -

There are other option out there as well. Google is your friend if you want to find and try them. What I did was subscribe to the rss feeds of other sights so I still get the tips, recipes and what not. But I find MPF much less cluttered. They all do the same thing in different ways. Some are free, some are not. Find the one that works the best for you and that you are most likely to use. It's all about you this time. What you like, what you need to be successful and most importantly, what you will use.0

I was only on SparkTeens for about a year and I just found it really hard to keep up with things because it was a very slow, cluttered, and over-complicated site.
MFP is very simple and the people here are less 'cliquey'. The only thing about ST that I liked was the pie chart of where your calories came from. (Both meals and specific food). It was part of you end of day analysis which I though was pretty decent. But I am never going to go back. I like it here!0 -
I was using SparkPeople before. I like it for the articles and SparkRecipes.com and the exercise videos and such like that.
But it's much easier here to log food and exercise and I find that it's easier to interact with people here (because of the news feed and such) and I get much more support here.0 -
i also have a spark people account though i don't really use it these days. i agree that mfp is more user friendly but i also liked spark people for the recipes and the articles they send out on a daily basis.0

I track my food intake on Spark People. I started tracking long ago with MFP then I couldn't. It's my fault though. My old cel phone, a LG Ally, I rooted it because of limited physical memory so I could remove all the bloatware on it. When I did that the MFP app stopped working. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but still did not work. I stumbled across Spark People and it's food tracker app works fine with my now hacked phone. I no longer have the LG Ally I now have a Droid 3 but I just been lazy about switching back to MFP to track. I dabble in the forums there occasionally but I am much more active here on MFP.0

I do both but spend the bulk of my time here (About 80:20). MFP is far superior in tracking food and exercise and much easier to use. Spark people has an easily searchable recipe database and exercise demos that are great. My only complaint about MFP is its too difficult to find recipes.0

I tried for a long time to like sparkpeopl, but there is SSSOOOOOO MUUUUCHHH going on in their websight....the design is awful.
MFP is just clean and simple and works.
I don't know that I ever mentioned SP to anyone that I knew. I've told probably five or six people about MFP.
It just works.0 -
After using SparkPeople for nearly 2 years, I found MFP and tbh, I probably wouldn't go back to SP to track, because it's much more easier to find things here, and the variety of food from NZ/Aus is bigger than SP. I do read their articles though, because I like them and I find them interesting, along with their workout videos. But other than that, I prefer MFP for almost everything.0

I have heard about spark ppl but not sure how it is. I hear its just like MFP though0

A friend of mine told me about Spark People, but it looks like a very similar program as MFP. I am very happy with MFP, my question is is there any reason you would do both?0
-
I was on Spark People first. Hated it. Too busy/confusing. MFP is awesome. It wasn't until I found MFP that I became really successful with my weight loss.0
-
I really like the support I have found on MFP.0

Just had to check. Saw the title and thought we might be going to war.0

I tried Spark People.
There is a such thing as TOO MUCH INFORMATION.
From the spark points, to the advertisements, to the spark groups, I lost all of my spark with that site.
MFP is much similar and I enjoy the social aspect of it also.0 -
I like MFP a lot better. The site is nicer and easier to use. I also like the people here better as the over the top rainbows, sunshine and unicorns of the Uber positive without being grounded in the real world didn't rub me the right way.
People here tend to tell it like it is and there are lot more people that know what they're talking about here.
Did someone say rubbing? My kitty is very interested.0 -
Tried sparkpeople last year for a short time. Was too confusing for me to use and had me in information overload. MFP is much more user friendly IMO. I also like having a friend's list of people that support me here.0
-
I would't do both. They are very similar and it would just be double the amount of work! I switched over from Spark People because this format seemed a little better and I like the community here.
Same here,0 -
I use fatsecret.com for my food logging because I like their food calendar better, but the people on MFP are WAY better, so I always find myself spending more time here than anywhere else.
Hello from Chicago!
Looks like MFP is winning hands down. i do use SPARKPEOPLE.COM for their exercise videos and motivation articles. I just checked out FATSECRET.COM mentioned above and decided to join for the many different challenges the site has. I actually joined 2 challenges that will be starting next week at that site. MPF is still my choice for food & exercise tracking. I think it has the largest food database and a great community.0 -
I found it the day after I found MFP. I thought it wouldn't hurt to try it out to figure out which worked best. It was totally overwhelming to me. I logged out and haven't been back since.0
