Positive significant other(s) out there?

I read so many posts here about folks having trouble with significant others messing with their diet and exercise plans, that I just wanted to give a shout out to my fab hubby who, although he's 6'4" and skinny as a rail,
* shops thoughtfully when it's his turn --loading up on fresh fruits and veggies and reading labels religiously for fat, salt, carbs, & fiber;
* cooks sensibly both in content and portions-- weighing & measuring ingredients and writing them down so I can enter them into MFP recipes;
* encourages me to work out, even if it means our "home" plans must work around it;
* suggests restaurant and "treat" outings where I can enjoy myself without blowing the diet;
* satisfies his own cravings for high-fat or high-cal naughties like french fries or bacon when he's out with friends at lunch, or otherwise not with me.
Anybody else as lucky as me?!

I am! I'd also like to add to this, something that is very important to me. Not only is my husband incredibly supportive (even though he can eat what he wants and not gain weight) but he loves me and accepts me just as I am, regardless. He never fails to tell me how beautiful I am and this means the world to me. Supportive is one thing as far as weight/health is concerned, but I could never be with someone who didn't love me, regardless.0

My fiance and I are one here together
So glad we are on the same page. It would be very difficult to be with someone who eats like a piglet and tries to sabotage me.
YAY for supportive significant others!!!!0 -
My hubby is very supportive . . . now if I could just get him to cook and shop he'd rank up there with your man!!!! That is awesome! I have nothing to complain about. My hubby has been with me from my athletic army days, through 4 pregnancies and babyhoods, loving me the whole way.0

Yep...Both me and my partner on here so it is easier to shop, cook etc and we try to excercise together aswell when my shifts allow...You do sound very lucky though especially as your hubby has no need to diet..:bigsmile:0

My fiance is always telling me how proud he is of me and how amazing I'm doing when I mention that I've lost another pound or fit into a smaller size. Of course he doesn't say it until I mention something, but it's better than him never saying it And he tries to keep me in check with my calories if we go out somewhere. I always want to give in and just order big but he reminds me why I shouldn't without sounding like he's talking down to me. He also doesn't complain (too much) when I want to buy slightly more expensive healthy foods lol.0

Yes! I'm so thankful that my husband is so supportive and is working to apply the same healthy habits to his own life. He also is supportive of me running and participating in races even when it is a time commitment to do so. He's the best!0

I do most of the grocery shopping and cooking, so my husband doesn't end up helping with those items, but he is AMAZINGLY supportive with all other things!
He is 6'2" and doesn't need to lose any weight, so doesn't always understand my emotions.
However, he will always try to encourage me to workout. When I'm not in the mood, he will often offer to go for a nature hike with me!
Always tries to bring me to lower calorie restaurants, and asks how I am doing for the day (food and emotion wise).
Would NOT be here today (68 pounds down) without him!!
He is always sure to compliment and encourage me on a daily basis as well - makes me feel even more proud of myself!0 -
Me!!!
He isn't on here but we are doing Insanity together.0 -

I'm with you on this one! My husband would even wake up at 430am to go to the gym with me even though he prefer to sleep in. Yes I do have a wonderful husband!0

My hubby is so supportive of me. He knows how it is though. About 4-5 years ago he was close to 300lbs, then decided he wanted to get healthy. He's in the Army and according the them he has another 20lbs to lose. On Saturday he told me he wanted to join "my weight loss website" lol so he could keep track of what he's eating. He weighed 193, last night he weighed 186. He's addicted now...LOL
I'm go glad to see everyone here has such supportive significant others.0 -
I have an amazing husband. He just bought me a really nice treadmill because I wanted to get back into running again. Our neighborhood is very busy and not terribly safe for single female runners.
He's also very supportive of the diet and enjoys cooking healthy meals and eating them with me.0 -
Hubby and I are on here together. It's nice knowing that we are finally on the same page about getting healthy.0

I give my wife a lot of credit! I am a huge pain in the *kitten* about food now! We usually shop together, she went to nutrition classes with me and she has to listen to me talk about my weight, my food, my exercise. She does everything she can to help me - and she is next! She was doing great but seems to have lost her mojo for her own weight loss, so I am trying to encourage her as well!.0

That's awesome! I should have mentioned that my hubs married me FAT 27 years ago, and has never in all that time gone a day without saying 'I Love You" and telling me I'm beautiful--no matter what I weighed. Doesn't it make life grand?!0 -

Same here!0 -
My boyfriend and I both have been finding how important health and fitness is together. He pushes me to make good decisions and gets on me about not working out enough. He plays tennis around 4-5 days a week, so I usually dont have to push him as much haha
At home, when I make super healthy meals, he is COMPLETELY on board. We go grocery shopping together and make healthy decisions and keep all the CRAP out of the house!! If I want to snack, typically a greek yogurt of dry cereal are my options haha
It honestly makes everything so much easier...
If only my friends would hold me in check that well :laugh: :laugh:0 -
When I fist started my fiance was really supportive but would eat crap right in front of me! Now he's in a largest loser program and he now understands what I was going thru, and what I continue to go thru. He's actually motivating me! I don't think I could do this without him, and I have a feeling he'd be lost if I wasn't cooking for him :laugh:0

Yes! My hubby and I are in this together too. He does most of the grocery shopping which is awesome. He encourages me to exercise and we usually take long family walks together on the weekends. What is always a little difficult is that he loses weight much more quickly than I do!!0

I am! He always call me SKiny Minnie, suggests we run together, and works his schedule to be able to do it with me. He has changed his diet to accomodate mine even though he doesn't have to! He is 6' 4" also and in great shape but lives a healthy lifestyle with me. I love having the support here but it means a little more coming from him also!0

my husband supports me all the way he tells me often he loves me just the way i am but he will make sure i do my workouts and says we prob should not eat out or will let me pick where we go or if he gets pizza i can get another place if i want. He is great!!! And funny is he can eat what ever he wants and does not gain but yet he is 26 so it will catch up with him i am sure lol He also eats whatever i feed him granted he is not super picky but he is great about it and if i dont have many cals for dinner he will just make himself a frozen pizza so i can make myself a salad and not bother cooking that night he is wonderful lol0

I'm not quite as lucky as you (especially when it comes to measuring and recording ingredients), but my boyfriend does encourage me to work out - including paying for a race registration fee for me! - and make healthy choices when we eat out. He always asks how many calories I have left for dinner before cooking, and is learning a thing or two himself!0
