Is anyone like me?

hey Internet,
I'm a 24 year old female getting serious about losing the extra pounds I've been refusing to admit that I've gained. I hadnt weighed myself in a couple years and just stepped on a scale a week ago. I had not anticipated the number to be as depressing as it turned out to be. I knew I had gained some weight but I didn't think it was that much. Anyways, I'm really new at this whole monitoring everything I do and eat system, but it sounds like it's been very effective for a lot of people. I could really use some support though, and would love to share ideas and motivation with anyone who will listen and contribute. Especially (but not exclusively!) with those who have similar goals.
I'm only at the very first leg of my journey, but I feel confident knowing I have an entire community behind me!

That's it, anyone interested please don't hesitate to add me as a friend.

It is so hard when you finally step on that scale. I know exactly how you feel. I have found MFP really does work, but it is you that does the work. It just helps you stay accountable. I have done weight watchers and find that I have done better with MFP. I think I just needed something different. I did really well here last year, and then "fell off the wagon" I put the weight back on... it is about a lifestyle change and sticking with it. That is why I am back. The other thing that is helpful are these message boards, take some time and play. Do some searches. There is great information on here. Tips, recipes and sometimes the success stories are all I need to keep going. Welcome, and good luck!0
