Losing Weight While Breast Feeding

I have a 3 month old and plan to breastfeed for at least 8 more months. I do not want to wait that long to lose weight. I had lost all the baby weight withing 10 days of giving birth but have gained back 7 pounds because I am sooo hungry all the time with feeding him and producing milk.
I need to mostly lose all my pre-pregnancy weight that never should have been there. Total 68 pounds need to be gone!
I find that I need the calories to keep my supply up and I just dont get how I am going to lose weight while maintaining supply.

Help?

Hi! I am a breast feeding mother as well; baby is 5 months old. (plus i have 3 older children too)

Could you possibly change what you are eating to more healthier foods, and consume less fatty/salty/sugar-laden foods? That way you still would be eating lots of food to fill you up, and eating less high calorie foods!

Could you increase your exercise... ie... do more exercise, or lift the intensity?

Do you eat soup and toast? Thats a good idea for healthy filling foods! I enjoy making and eating vegetable soup, or pumpkin soup.... just some ideas.
    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

You only need about 500 extra calories a day. If you search the database for 'breastfeeding' there are plenty of options to choose from.
  • search the food part of the database and add what suits you, id say the 500cals extra. ive been BF for 2.5yrs now, non stop between 2 kiddies and only now have i lost the most weight from trying, you can just chop back a few hundred cals from your regular intake and it comes off. i was eating about 2000 cals a day and staying the same, dropped to around 1500 and lost quite a bit of weight, now my son is 1 i am aiming for lower.
