Help me figure out this weight loss

So for the past week I have been sick (just a cold) and have been eating less protein overall (between 34-60g daily). I have been eating pretty much the same calorie-wise, though have been eating a lot cleaner too. I haven't been able to workout for about 5 days. But I somehow managed to lose 3 pounds in 4 days this week. I'm 5'4 and currently 135 lbs.

Do you think it is from being sick? Muscle loss from less protein and/or not working out as much? Because I started eating clean? Or is it possible that having less protein is "better" for me, weight loss-wise? Or a combination?

Would appreciate some opinions and feedback. Thanks! :flowerforyou:

I'm pretty sure it's been from all of the above. I tend to drink more fluids while sick so maybe you lost water weight.

I am doubting that you would muscle waste and it would show in just 4 days. You can count on the weight loss as water loss. I would not worry about it. Those recovery days probably helped you much too. Recovery is a good thing.

I use a 40/40/20 split on my food plan.

Hope that helps and glad you are feeling better.

Thanks Coach Nyla, that makes a lot of sense! I was worried it was muscle loss but I did think it was too fast for that too.

It's not muscle loss. I believe it's from your change in diet. You're eating cleaner which is a change for your body. So you're bound to lose weight. A few weeks ago I decided to try something different. I lowered my carb intake by a lot. It shocked my body, and I lost a lot of weight the first two weeks. You're doing great. Keep it up!

Thank you, that makes me feel good! I hope it's the clean eating because I'm trying REALLY hard and it hasn't been easy!
  • How do you eat clean, is Dawn dish-washing detergent good enough???
