Hi, I am posting to see what people's thoughts are on healthy fats - by this I mean, which nuts are 'good' fats, and when do you eat them? I had bought some chopped walnuts, raw almonds, and chopped pecans; all lightly salted/or no salt at all. Your thoughts?

All nuts have healthy fats. So do some oils, like olive oil, walnut oil, etc. Avocados are also a good source. I don't sweat healthy fats at all. Today I am within my calorie goal but over in fats. This happens often because I like to snack on almonds of peanut butter and has no hindrance on my weight loss. Fats were demonized back in the 80s and 90s and people have a hard time digesting the fact that all fats aren't evil! Trans fat are the only one I completely avoid, as that is generally found in industrial/processed food.

After talking to my doctor, I don't bother watching my cholesterol intake nor my fat intake (except trans fats). Dietary cholesterol has almost nothing to do with blood cholesterol levels, and as long as I'm eating fresh quality foods prepared by not frying, I won't be getting so much fat that it's bad for me either.

I just track carbs, sugar, fiber, sodium, and overall calories.
