Are you dedicated to MFP? As in, do you do more than log your food and be done with it? Do you work the program?

I try to be, but I find myself slacking so often. I feel like I do just enough to say that I do it. But I don't push myself. I hate that about myself. My goal is in reach, and very realistic. My weight and money are two things in my life that I should have control over. Yet I am irresponsible with both.

Are you dedicated? Any tips you can throw at me? Feel free to throw them hard enough to kick me in the butt.

Thanks!

The only thing I can tell you is to take it day by day. Each day, set a goal, meet it, and move on. Don't look at it as losing 20 lbs, but 1 lb per week.

If you don't have the app on your phone- get it! Great for adding/amending without forgetting and for being accurate!

Be honest with it- plan ahead with it so you can derive your shopping list from the planned meals and quantities so you don't over spend/waste or deviate!

Plan/factor in exercise too. If you know one day you can't do phys, then make sure you plan to compensate for it in another day you will have time. :) Works for me anyways.

  • if you are a competitive person, joining a challenge is very motivating. I joined a 30ds group in June, and I did it everyday for 30 days because I knew my team depended on it. Also, when my friends post their work outs, it motivates me to get one on the feed so I don't look like a slacker lol.

I am dedicated! I don't know what tips to offer, though.

I really enjoy trying to fit my macros (carb/fat/protein goal for the day). Last week a friend and I had a challenge to see if we could stay under sodium goal 6 of 7 days. I only got 5 of 7 but it was still a fun project :)

Sometimes I overeat, I don't beat myself up. I just remind myself that if I continue that, I won't meet my goal.

More often, I undereat, I TRY not to beat myself up, but I know it is so bad. I need to really avoid doing that, but it is tough for me to feel hungry (which is likely why I was over this week - actually felt hungry!)

Try to make something fun about this. Give yourself a challenge! See if you can burn 2000 calories this week. See if you can make ONE day meet within +/- 10 of your carb/fat/protein gram goal for the day. See if you can spend a few days under sodium goal. See if you can spend 3 days without buying snacks at work/school/away from home.

Lots of things you can do to really get into this site and how it works. Just gotta stay positive about the whole thing - and be proactive! Start a challenge if you can't find one to join, invite others to 'compete' in workouts with you!

I find myself dedicated to MFP (strangely) because, honestly, I don't want to be here forever. I started this journey at 220 and want to reach 160. Then, I want to maintain for a year and then I'll wean myself off of MFP. But if I am not ALL here and doing this, I will be here FOREVER. When I started, I wanted to reach my goal by May 9, 2012. Then, it occurred to me that I could actually reach it by Christmas if I was all in, balls to the wall, no cheating, no kidding, make it happen. That's FIVE months. I don't know about you, but I would rather enjoy my at-goal-weight body for those five months than to hang out here "trying" to make it happen, ya know? I have 17 lb to go and 74 days. That is less than 2 lb per week. You have (according to your ticker) 24 lb to go. What do you think? Feb 1? Oh, yes! By Valentines day you could rock whatever dress you want.

As far as money goes...same routine. Focus on the small things, and all of a sudden, it is a big thing. :)

I don't know if i'm dedicated but i'm definitly addicted! I try to be as good as i can every day, but sometimes I slip up. It really helps to build up a network of supportive friends on here. Log in every day and join in on discussions and try to answer some of the posts. It will help you feel more involved. Set small goals every day! It feels great when you achieve them! Good luck.
