Hello everybody!
I've always heard that the "normal amount" of water that a person should drink is 8 8 oz. glasses (64 oz.) a day. Is this true? Or should I be drinking something more tailored to me and my size? I'm 5'4 and 168 lbs., does anyone know how much I should be drinking? Thank you!!!!!

I read in a magazine that you should drink (in ouces) half the amount of your body weight. So for you, that would be 84 ounces.0

I've heard this too...and it's been working great for me...just remember, every time you bring water into your body, it will need to be excreted, and when it is, it will take other wastes (like fat that you've burned off!) with it!0 -
Thank you guys! That does make sense, I figured 64 oz couldn't be the standard for EVERYONE.0

it is interesting,,,the history behind the advice of 8 glasses a day.....you can go the web and search 8 glasses of water a day and you will find it....different views on how much we really need...but it seems like 8 is a good number for me after you get used to it.....and getting up at night , etc0

Definitely listen to your body and make sure you eat your minerals or take a mineral supplement. 1/2 of my body weight in ounces is about 24 cups of water. I get that most days with water and caff free liquids. If I don't get enough I feel sluggish and yucky but my body is used to it. If you normally do not drink enough water work up gradually and then don't stop once you have started because your body gets used to the water and your kidneys really like the cleansing. If you drink your water for a while then stop and go back to too little your body will sure tell you!

i just drink 3-4 24oz bottles a day. if i dont drink at least 3 then i feel dehydrated. i'd say get at least 64oz and then listen to your body. the truth is I make a cup of hot green tea and pour that over ice cubes in my water bottle and then add water to fill it up. i do that to 2 out of the 4 bottles i drink each day. the other 2 are just straight water. i heard green tea boosts metabolism:)0
