Head Pressure after running

Hi everybody!

I decided that I wasn't getting the results I wanted by doing the 30DS anymore (could be the fact I wasn't doing it everyday). I know that running is the fastest way for me to drop the pounds, plus I love the endorphin rush I get. So anyway! I've run on the treadmill off and on the past few weeks, but I hadn't gone running outside in a long time. This morning I went and when I was done running my head started to hurt pretty bad. I felt intense pressure towards the front of my head and behind my eyes and my head felt heavy. I haven't felt this in a long time, but I was curious if anyone knows the cause of this. Is it because I haven't run in a while and am a little out of shape or dehydration or what?

Also, I'm putting up another post after this about different types of running shoes: barefoot, neutral and stable. If anyone has any info on that. :)

Not much help from me on head pressure but I did experience blue lips after jogging (pretty slow). I think the head pressure is from increased heart rate and blood pressure. May be start out slower?

I'm not sure of the cause but webmd.com is usually a great source of medical info. Check there or call your Dr.

You really want MFP people to diagnose you?

It could be that you are allergic to something and your sinuses are in overdrive.... you may be dehydrated.... your blood pressure may have increased.... you may need to get adjusted (chiropractically).... it could be a lot of things.... but I would start with the easier things.... make sure you are hydrated for your run.... and pay attention to other allergy symptoms.

As to the shoes, I am a huge fan of Asics!

I felt that way once after running...but I think the hot sun and not drinking enough fluids contributed to my headache. Just make sure you keep yourself hydrated and don't overexert yourself. Maybe try running with an HRM to make sure your hear rate is where it should be. If the headaches still occur, speak to your doctor.

Hope it all works out well for you :)

Thanks for the input everyone. I was just looking to see if anyone else had this symptom and if it was just a general reaction to being out of shape or not.
