safety tips for women

Hey all, my MIL sent this to me because of all the attempted abductions that have taken place in my area lately. I just wanted to post it for anyone else that may be interested.

Everyone should take 5 minutes to read this. It may save your life or a loved one's life.

Crucial

Because of recent abductions

In daylight hours, refresh yourself

of these things to do

in an emergency situation.

This is for you,

and for you to share

with your wife,

your children,

everyone you know.

After read ing these 9 crucial tips,

forward them to someone you care about.

It never hurts to be careful

in this crazy world we live in.
1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do :

The elbow is the strongest point

on your body.

If you are close enough to use it, do!
2. Learned this from a tourist guide.

If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse,

DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM.

Toss it away from you...

Chances are that he is more interested

in your wallet and/or purse than you,

and he will go for the wallet/purse.

RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car,

kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole

and start waving like crazy.

The driver won't see you, but everybody else will.

This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars

after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit

(doing their chequebook, or making a list, etc.

0A

DON'T DO THIS!)

The predator will be watching you, and this

is the perfect opportunity for him to get in

on the passenger side, put a gun to your head,

and tell you where to go.

AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR ,

LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.

If someone

is in the car

with a gun

to your head

DO NOT DRIVE OFF,

Repeat:

DO NOT DRIVE OFF!

Instead gun the engine

and speed into anything, wrecking the car.

Your Air Bag will20save you.

If the person is in the back seat

they will get the worst of it .

As soon as the car crashes

bail out and run.

It is better than having them find your body

in a remote location.

5. A few notes about getting

into your car in a parking lot,

or parking garage:

A.) Be aware:

look around you,

look into your car,

at the passenger side floor ,

and in the back seat

B.) If you are parked next to a big van,

enter your car from the passenger door.

Most serial killers attack their victims

by pulling them into their vans while the women

are attempting to get into their cars.

C.) Look at the car

parked on the driver's side of your vehicle,

and the passenger side... If a male is sitting alone

in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back

into the mall, or work, and get a

0A

guard/policeman to walk you back out.

IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator

instead of the stairs.

Stairwells are horrible places to be alone

and the perfect crime spot.

This is especially true at NIGHT!)

7. If the predator has a gun

and you are not under his control,

ALWAYS RUN!

The predator will only hit you (a running target)

4 in 100 times; and even then,

it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ.

RUN, Preferably in a zig -zag pattern!

8. As women, we are always trying

to be sympathetic:

STOP

It may get you raped, or killed.

Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking,

well educated man, who ALWAYS played

on the sympathies of unsuspecting women.

He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often

asked 'for help' into his vehicle or with hi s vehicle,!

which is when he abducted
his n ext victim.

9. Another Safety Point:

Someone just told me that her friend heard

a crying baby on her porch the night before last,

and she called the police because it was late

and she thought it was weird. The police told her

'Whatever you do, DO NOT

open the door.'

The lady then said that it sounded like the baby

had crawled near a window,&n bsp;and she was worried

that it would crawl to the street and get run over.

The policeman said, 'We already have a unit on the way,

whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.'

He told her that they think a serial killer

has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax

women out of their homes thinking that someone

dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it,

but have had several calls by women saying that

they hear baby's cries outside their doors

when they're home alone at night.

10. Water scam!

If you wake up in the middle
of the night to hear all your taps outside running or what you think is a
burst pipe, DO NOT GO OUT TO INVESTIGATE! These people turn on all your
outside taps full ball so that you will go out to investigate and
then attack.

Stay alert, keep safe, and look out for your neighbors!

Please pass this on and DO NOT open the door

for a crying baby ----

This e-mail should probably be taken seriously because

the Crying Baby Theory was mentioned on

America 's Most Wanted this past Saturday when they profiled

the serial killer in Louisiana

I'd like you to forward this to all the women you know.

It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle.

I was going to send this to the ladies only,

but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc.,

you may want to pass it onto them, as well.

I hope everyone adds their safety tips to this thread:..
    ________________________________________________

Never let them take you to a second location.

I WAS KIDNAPPED by a stranger when I was 14. Take the chance of running BEFORE being taken as the first poster says, or even jumping from a moving car.
I tried to talk my way out, to no avail. He told me he was going to take me somewhere and I was going to take care of him and then he would bring me back. Call me paranoid, but I didn't think that he would. So sometime later I grabbed the steering wheel, pulled it toward me, while punching the accelerator with my foot. The truck veered and he let go of me in surprise long enough for me to go for the door. The truck was still moving, but it could have wrecked - it only hit the curb and bounced, but I was going! As I left the passenger side, he grabbed the back of my jeans. I got my feet planted on the outside edge of the seat and pushed with all my strength. My jeans tore from front to back - the entire seam - but I got away. I ran to the closest house (we were in a residential area) and I just ran right in. They called the police and the kidnapper drove away. This was before electronic locks - this escape would not be possible in today's cars. An accomplished abductor will even REMOVE door-lock latches that you could operate for escape.

The second location could have killed me. I was willing to risk injury rather than death.
    _________________________________________________________________________

If your car breaks down - get out immediately and OFF the road so no one can see you. If you know the area and feel it is safe to walk somewhere, do so. IF not - HIDE in the bushes, ditch or trees. Even if you have a cell phone, if you are in the car, you are like a parakeet in a cage. They can break your window and be off with you and leave your cell phone behind. Carry warm shoes and clothing and a blanket in your car at all times. If you can hide where you have sight of your car, you can wait until a MARKED law enforcement car stops at your vehicle. Do not trust ANYONE else who stops and offers to help or who is near the car. Stay hidden.
    ___________________________________________________________________________

Criminals LOOK FOR VICTIMS. That is their job. Don't be one of their victims.

WOW...thanx for all the great info....I came close to being abducted when I was 13. I was walking to my bus stop (a good distance from my house)....I saw a white van pass by on the opposite side of the road, the man inside staring me down...I'd always had a fear of vans due to stories my older brothers had told me....so I was already a little paranoid. Within just a few seconds later that same van was pulling up along side of me asking if I needed a ride, as he leaned across the passenger seat reaching out his hand. I think my heart actually stopped and I froze ( not something I recommend)....thank God there was a man working on his car along side the road, right beside me, that neither of us could see...the man stood up and asked if everything was ok....I'm sure he could see by my face that it wasn't...that was enough to scare this A@#HOLE off. He asked if I was Ok...I stood there for a second debating on whether or not to continue to the bus stop...in shock to say the least....then started balling and ran back home. Needless to say my bus stop was moved to the front of my house! I get really scared when I think about what one of my kids would do in the same situation...you can tell them what to do 'til your blue in the face, but who knows how they would react...What would have happened to me if that man wasn't there at 7am working on his car...I panicked and froze...pretty scary to think about...

I just joined a couple of days ago. So tks flcaoh  for bumping this thread or I never would have noticed it. Tks hairprincess for listing them  and cmriverside for adding to it.

I've taken women's self defence and watched Oprah's shows on safety. Those you listed are really good. On Oprah's safety shows, I do remember the safety expert they had on, a policeman, saying what you guys said above, which is never leave the 1st location. 99% of those taken to a 2nd location's outcome is grim. I also remember on that same show, to not yell help but yell, "Fire". B/c, if you yell help. People are not involved themselves. If you yell Fire, they come out of their houses and look as to where the fire is and hopefully, they see you and call 911 and get help.

Tks so much for the list and good reminders. I'm going to share this with others.

Hairprincess: I really like what you said above about a candle lighting other candles and this is to be shared not just for women but for men to share with their loved ones.
Tks for taking such good care of everyone! :flowerforyou:

Hey all, my MIL sent this to me because of all the attempted abductions that have taken place in my area lately. I just wanted to post it for anyone else that may be interested.

Everyone should take 5 minutes to read this. It may save your life or a loved one's life.

    of these things to do

    in an emergency situation.

    This is for you,

    and for you to share

    with your wife,
