Well, I've been using MFP for about 5 months now, off and on, and never posted on the forums. Thought I'd share what I've been doing for the past 5 months.
When I started I had a calorie goal of 2500 calories/day (i was eating a little over 4000 calories a day, then I found MFP)
I started exercising about a week after setting this calorie goal. I just walked for about 25 minutes a day, 4 times a week, in my field (255ft) and whatever I burned off I would eat back.
This stayed the same for about a month then I changed my calorie goal to 2200 calories/day with the same exercise routine.
The next month, I had the same calorie goal but I added about 10 more minutes to my walking and about 5 minutes total of jogging. And about 3 days later I started doing pushups and crunches. I was able to do 10 pushups (or what I have to call a pushup for the time being) and 150 crunches.
Alright, september is where I realize I don't need these extra calories that I burned off. So, I switched my calorie goal to 2000 calories/day and my exercise routine is as follows from then until last week:
(6 days a week)
40 minutes walking 2.5-3.0 MPH
5 minutes jogging 5.0 MPH (about) without stopping
3 minute break
30 pushups
150 crunches
30 second break
30 pushups
150 crunches
done
I knew the moment when I hit rock bottom is when I looked at the scale and it said 407. I was in college and had no money to buy healthy food (of course) and I always felt bad. Unfortunately I started smoking before that day (about 6 months before) and I still regret it to this day (i'm actually down to 2-6 a day compared to 2 packs a day like I was at, at one point). So after college and my internship I had to move back in with my parents. I saw this as the perfect opportunity to get healthy.
In the beginning of this whole thing it was soooo hard for me to stick to my calorie goal, mostly because everyone in my household isn't interested in losing weight and being at healthy.
Either way, I'm not going to get in depth that because I'm doing damn good on my own so far.
The last time I weighed myself, I was 395 lbs. That was about 5 months ago. Every other time I've tried to weigh myself the scale wouldn't go past 350 lbs, so I have no idea how much I weigh. At this point, I'm not worried about it. Of course I would love to get on a scale and see that I weigh 315 or something but I look at the muscle I've gained and it's enough to satisfy me for now. I can see bones and muscles that I've NEVER seen before, so that's what I can call progress.
I am technically unemployed; I'm a freelance audio engineer and usually have little to no income. This is my story with using this site so far. I could use a friend or 2 on this site to check in on me, because having some commonalities (such as weight loss) with someone, makes it easier, as everyone knows.
Grammatically incorrect everywhere and timeline possibly off somewhere? I don't care. Just sharing a little bit of my story and not proofreading
