I've been having sholder pain/rotator cuff pain on and off for a little over a week and I finally went to the doc once it became too much. I was worried that I was going to make it worse, so they diagnosed me with Shoulder Bursitis. :grumble: So I can't really do any of the workouts I like to do...Insanity/Turbo Fire. I have PT next Tuesday, but I'm going nuts here and our treadmill is broken  (plus I really like to try and knock out my workouts all at once and go intense).

Does anyone have any ideas on a workout that I can do that won't aggrevate my shoulder too much. I can use it, but I can't lift anything over my head or away from my body, push ups are out...basically I can do some stretches until I get to PT.

Any suggestions would be awesome...I'm trying to keep the weight off and lose still too. Thanks in advance!

Do you have weights? You could still do bicep/tricep/chest/back work for the arms without straining your shoulder.

As for cardio, search for Billy Blanks and Jane Fonda on youtube ;) Free and accessible.

Find a trainer. Don't attempt exercise without consulting one. If you do, you put yourself at risk of even greater injury and/or serious joint deterioration. Rotator cuff injuries are very common due to the glenohumeral joint being very vulnerable. The price you pay for such range of motion. There are probably exercises you cannot do as a result of your medical condition. A trainer will know the best exercise prescription, but only after a PROPER, COMPLETE ASSESSMENT. Really consider this!!

I do have weights but the doc did tell me not to lift anything too heavy for the next few days...and I can't really bend my arm back in a tricep kick back.

I'm going to see if I can't modify some of the Insanity workouts for cardio...I know that it'll get my heartrate up quickly and steadily, but I don't like the idea of losing the muscle on my arms...

I would love to go to a trainer...but I just can't afford that right now. Especially with having to go to the doc today and then PT next week. I guess I'll just do lower body stuff and the stretches and walk alot. LOL Not my favorite things to do but oh well.
  • Try Leslie Sansone walking dvd's. You can pick them up cheap at Walmart , and they are very good. I've lost 30 + lbs doing them while not able to lift. Now I can run again.

Thats what I did tonight was a walk/jog with the dogs...I just don't feel I'm getting a good workout unless my HR hits over 150...I'm a cardio junkie.
