Hey there,
I am new to MFP, well I have been using the Iphone App for about a month or so but thought it would be good if I came on here and see if I couldn't find a few weightloss buddies and make a few new friends.
Right a bit about me.....
I live in New Zealand where it is beautiful and green. I am 38 years old, I currently weigh 94KG (208 pounds) I am 170cm tall (5'7).
I have been struggling with being over weight since a long stint in hospital 14 years ago, up until then I had always been naturally slim and had never had an issue with weight.
Over the last 12-14 years I have seen my weight go up and down and I am now at the biggest I have ever been and this is it, I need to lose the weight once and for all. I am 38 and I dont want to spend the rest of my life feeling bad about my image or that I am over weight. I want my outside to match what I feel inside & I want to be able to do the things I used to do before I was overweight.
At the end of the day the weight I carry is down to what I put in my mouth and lack of activity. I am ready to say: YES - I use/used food as a comfort pillow when things are stressful and I love savory food and lashings of sour cream & pizza etc, which is the reason I am now still overweight, and it is time for that to change.
My goal is to be 75KG by my 40th birthday 19/06/2013 and being that I weigh 94kg at the moment that is a 19kg loss, I feel this should be an acheivable goal and will mean I lose the weight slowly and not run the risk of giving up.
Over the last month I have been working on living on 1200 Calories per day and on making sure the food I eat is good food.
I would really like to meet other people who are also in there journey to there goal weights or have reached them, I would love the support of others on here and to provide support to others here.
So I would love to hear your stories and your goals!
Thanks for taking the time to read my story.
Kristin :-)

Hi there! I'm Susan. I've been lurking on the site and using the app for about the same time as you. I really wish you the best of luck. I just moved to Tokyo with my family a few months back and decided that if I can change continents I can surely drop some of these pesky extra pounds! I'll send you a friend request!0

Hi Kristin,
I'm from Sydney so that kinda makes us neighbours . I'm in a similar position to you, hoping to loose about 20kg by my birthday next year in May. I started in july, although ive only just started using this site as i was using another site. Ive kost 6.5kg so far. I found that in the first month i lost a lot of weight very quickly. Since then ive been struggling a little with temptation but im starting to get back on track.
I can definetly understand the food as a comfort pillow - in about 6 months at my old job i packed on 10kg from overeating from the stressfull workplace.
I'm sure you can do it and i think a birthday goal is great! You've got a realistic time frame, and you seem to have some pretty good plans set in place.0 -
Hello Kristin,
Your story reads alot like mine with the sturggles and looking for the opportunity to shine. Best of Luck to you! I live in Wisconsin which is in the United States. With the fall and winter time coming up it it important for me to get a move on and get moving and making my life better for myself, my husband and kids.
I am aiming to lose around 30 pounds. I work fultime and go to school fulltime as well. So life is busy and I sometimes make excuses on why I can't exercise, or make a better meal. But I realize that I should be putting myselft and my wellbeing first.
I look forward in cheering you on during your weight loss!0 -
I am new as well so I will friend you. A few of us at work started dancing twice a day at 10am and 3pm. We go from 10-15 minutes. Instead of dancing this past week I started jogging in place to burn more calories. I love this site, it seems easy and the calculations quickly show you more exercise a few extra calories. It is like Pavlov's Dog.0
