Martial arts?

Ok, so I am currently a student of Minna-Jiu-Jutsu, which is practical street self defense. According to MFP, this activity burns 1168 calories (just as generic martial arts) for an hour and a half. After having read that MFP tends to go high, I dropped that number back to about 750. I can't really afford a heart rate monitor at the moment.
Any other martial artists know where a ballpark figure might be?

Part of my inspiration to lose weight comes from wanting to eventually be a black belt.
Realized that I'd never get one if I was sclumpy!
