Increasing calories

I know quite a few people have suggested to increase calories when you hit a plateau.
My question is are you increasing net calories? Or are you increasing overall calories and boosting exercise as well?
In other words is it truly a calorie increase or are you increasing your exercise and thereby needing to eat more. Or do I just try increasing my net cals to say 1300. Hitting a plateau 10 lbs from goal sucks kettle balls.

I've stayed consistent with my exercise, and increased my calorie intake only...I weigh in on Friday to see if this increase in calories will help me get over this plateau.0

I increased my net. Haven't hit a plateau since doing that.0

I increased my net calories and if I increased my workouts I was sure to evaluate my net calories to make sure I wasn't too low. (I hope that makes sense).0
