How do you handle anger????

  • sadly not well. but for me the bigger problem is how do I handle hurt - because I tend to last out with inappropriate anger.

Me too. And I'm terribly sarcastic and nasty when that happens. I'm particularly good at the low blow.

Go to a therapist. It has helped me tremendously. At first, the advice might sound corny but it actually does work. For example, I learned to list three things that were positive about my day every single day, and I learned that having gratitude for these things really does overpower anger at other things and people.

If this is a stranger I don't give a **** I love me and know what I am so they can F themselves!!
I take the following steps with people who matter to me :flowerforyou:
Most of the time the issue can be addressed at the time it happened by being bluntly honest and calm, if I can not react in a calm manor I do the following:
    1. I first try to fix the issue if it needs to be fixed or is causing other havoc. (bad example but split milk, clean it up before it gets all over the floor)
    2. - If what I have to say is not going to help, I just walk a way and say nothing for a while letting it marinade.
    - Sometimes getting angry is necessary to get the point across, but this is if it is a problem that has been addressed in the past and is still continuing.
    3. While I am silent I think of reason's it may have happened, to understand what was going through the other person's mind tends to calm me down. If they are strangers I really don't care I just do't give a ****, family and friends on the other hand I like to give the benefit of the doubt and think that they didn't intend on hurting me or causing such havoc.
    4. After calming my self down I think of way to prevent it from happening in the future.
    5. Now I am ready to discus with the other person whom has cause the anger.
    - I like to know what was going through their mind and their intentions, also why they felt it was necessary.
    - What needs to change if anything in their opinion to avoid it from happening in the future.

I still may be angry after this, and that is ok sometimes it will take time to stop being angry. Anger is a healthy emotion and I don't mind feeling angry from time to time.
