Tomorrow is my birthday so we were going to go out. I had a plan to leave work early go to the gym and burn 600 calories. Have a big 400 calorie breakfast and save the other 800 calories. I added up the 3 things that I wanted to eat from Applebee's and I am over 2000 calories:( Yikes I though 1400 calories would be enough but now I have to replan my meal. I have been debating about cheating for tomorrow but that is what I have been doing last 14 years. Giving myself excuses of why I can eat this time.

I think the Christmas holidays are going to be very rough on me.

I wouldn't call it cheating!! You are planning ahead and trying to prepare. This happened to me for my birthday-except I didn't know I was going out to dinner! I ordered what I wanted, ate less of it and moved on. Don't beat yourself up over it. Workout again the next day and remember it's the bigger picture that counts!

agreed! its good that you're thinking about it and looking at the calories ahead of time, even if you know you'll go over, at least you know by how much, accept it and and enjoy it.

I think its worse when you don't prepare and then order whatever you want, eat all the chips/bread/appetizers too, then when you look at calories later, its way more than you ever would have wanted to eat.

    All within reason.

It's your birthday. Enjoy your dinner, and then get right back on your plan the next morning. And note in your log "It's my birthday, I'll eat what I want to!"

And don't worry about the holidays. You'll stress yourself out in advance over nothing, and will set yourself up for failure. Remember two things regarding the holidays: 1) Turkey is low cal; 2) ONE xmas cookie is okay... eating the tray isn't. Take a cookie and walk away.

Seriously.. It's your birthday for crying out loud! Celebrate the fact that you made it another year and that you are making changes in your life.. The fact that you are pre-planning instead of going in blind is a big change in my eyes.

So eat, drink and enjoy your birthday.. One day of going over never harmed anyone.

First of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY! My thought on this is it's something you are Planning for so that's start, I hope I don't get Bashed for saying this next part, but I don't deprive myself from eating what I want. You don't have to Eat all of what you want, just some of it, First thing I do is get a To Go Box ......Cut away half of the Meal, Eat the rest slowly. What ever you do Don't let it stress you, Have Fun.

Great job of planning ahead (you're doing better than most people just for that).

...and dont' forget, if you've been doing really good lately..you might not even be able to finish eating all the things you picked out off the menu!

    Happy Birthday, and enjoy!
