One of my husbands friends has started raising chickens. He is selling cage free organic eggs for $2 a dozen. I really didn't think I would notice a difference but wow! They are so fresh. He plans on using the money for his childrens college fund (or a divorce lawyer, his wife is a little unhappy about chickens running around in the back yard)

Why is she unhappy?, chickens make wonderful friends, keep your garden free of insects  and they give you eggs  who could ask for more, you can feed them on raw scraps from the kitchen, make compost from the manure the possibillities are endless to owning a few chickens

Life may not be the party we hoped for :grumble :explode: but while we are here we might as well dance! :drinker: :blushing:"

I have 42 chickens and they are great. Lizjkp, is correct, they provide all the benefits she named and they are a joy to be around. Plus cleaning out the chicken coop is great exercise!

I love my fresh eggs, although I also sell my eggs for $2 per dozen and am barely breaking even so I hope your friend makes money!
  • I long for the time when I can have my own chickens!! I live in the city, though, and I'm sure my neighbors wouldn't appreciate them... not to mention my dogs would probably try to eat the chickens all the time! Fresh eggs are THE BEST!
