30DS - loud?

Okay, I hate Jillian Michaels and her snarly "I'm better than you" face, but I can't deny all the before/after pictures on here of the HUGE difference 30 Day Shred makes, so I'm pondering getting it....

My question is - is there tons of jumping, running etc involved? I live in an apartment with creaky hardwood floors and I don't want to make my poor under-neighbours anymore hateful than they already are at me when I wii once in a while. Can it be done without jumping jacks on their ceiling, essentially?

  • Haha I loved the 30 day shred, but I had to stop for this exact same reason. My downstairs neighbor actually called me out for it. I still do it in the afternoons occasionally, but I had to switch to a Pilates DVD with less bouncing for my morning workouts. I used the Crunch ones available to stream on Netflix if you have that.

The cardio sections involve jumping jacks and jump rope, but you could always do low impact jacks and still benefit from the cardio.

My old apartment had an upstairs & downstairs with creaky hardwoods. My boyfriend would complain whenever I did the 30DS upstairs, b/c it would rattle & thump downstairs. I tried doing the jumps on my yoga mat to reduce it, but it wasn't all that effective.

Due to physical limitations I have been modifying the jumping parts. There is still plenty of work out that does not involve jumping.

As others have already mentioned, you can modify the jumping parts. I recently house sat for a friend who lives in an apartment and used 30 DS for weights and crunches. I modified the jumping parts to something much less intense and then would just go for a run after to get my cardio in.

I love 30DS so far!!! Although i dont live in an apartment, maybe you can do squat jacks so you dont have to make so much noise with jumping jacks..I know she said she didn't want to give the modification for it because she has 400 pound people doing them, but try squat jacks..They had Lisa for the begginers do them in Biggest Loser Cardio Max

I bought the DVD, and love it! The "better than you" look and attitude gives me the attitude of becoming better than her! She motivates me not to stop in the middle of a session.
Yes, she does have some jumping, but you can do other cardio to get your heart rate up. All her reviews are very good. That's why I bought a couple of her videos.

There is a section of cardio where you stay in a squat and do punches (so you are only moving your arms and not jumping/moving your legs). You could do more of these and maybe google online some low impact cardio.
  • Okay so it's probably similar to what I do now with my wii (and feel horribly guilty for). I might go ask my neighbours when they work and what time is best for them to NOT be home... Perhaps I'll buy it and just skip all the cardio and go for a run before or after to get my cardio in...

Roughly how long each day are you doing cardio? If I banked on a 20 minute run would that be enough?
