How confident are you in your body/mind/personal life/work life
Does the lack of confidence affect how you view others who are more confident?
Are you bolder than others to hide that lack of confidence?

fairly confident.
I noticed that once I started working out and feeling better about my body, my social anxiety all but disappeared.
Much more out-going, and willing to engage in conversation with strangers.0 -

Yes, I put up a wall and put on a mask, and raise my ego to massive quantities. I am funny, snarky, loud, outgoing and be as friendly as possible.
I am very shy, self conscious and falter in social situations.0 -
In body and mind and personal life---pretty damn confident! (at least most of the time)
work life-not so much
It only effects me in the sense that I wish I knew what I wanted to do when friends and family members have it down pat and starting jobs. Otherwise sometimes it's just the I wish I was that confident! It used to bother me that I wasn't as confident now it's just more power to them!
I am bolder than others to hide it? I'm not sure what you mean....yea I'll tell them flat out I wish I had it figured out no reason to hide it. but then again I try to be more straightforward0 -
Not really that confident at the moment but I remember last year when I dropped 20 pounds I was extremely confident.. Gained all it back unfortunately.0

Body - not at all, Mind - very confident, Personal - 50/50, Work - it's ok
I think I have lots of confidence in the virtual world, the anonymity helps with the self esteem issues. In real life, I try to cover any lacks in confidence with humor.
Example of reaction to others...I did Warrior Dash last month. In class at the Y the other night a cute, fit girl was wearing a "I Survived Warrior Dash" shirt. I wanted to ask her about it, say "I was there", but for some reason I felt stupid about it, like I had no right to be in the same race with her, being twice her size.
Wow, I just said that out loud, huh?0 -

I'm very confident, and have no issues at all in any social situations. It's a nice place to be. Once I get this last 10 or so pounds off of me I'll be even more confident. I couldn't be more opposite of how I was back in my school days.
The only time I'm not as confident is with my shirt off, which is why I'm still fighting the fat. I really, REALLY want that six pack. Bad.0 -
After I first had my accident and had to re-adjust to life in a wheelchair, my confidence wasn't too high. But over the years, as I adjusted and became more comfortable with my situation and realized that I could still do practically anything that I enjoyed before, my confidence began to return. Whereas I was somewhat uncomfortable with the stares and attention when I went out in public, now I just don't give a flip (granted, it's not as bad as it was 20 years ago).
And now, with my diet and exercise regime, I have no doubts that I'm in better physical condition (minus the whole walking bit, mind you than I was pre-accident ... and that, of course, just helps to boost the confidence levels even more.0 -
In some ways I'm confident, in other ways I'm not. I know that I'm a damn good opera singer, and there really isn't anyone who can tell me otherwise, because I wouldn't believe them. I've worked too hard and had too many professionals tell me that I have the voice to not be confident.
As far as body? Not. at. all. Main reason I joined this site. I know my voice is good enough, but I can't force myself to go to auditions because I convince myself I'll never get a role because I'm fat. On the bright side, my confidence is rising the more weight I lose. I imagine that once I get to my ideal fitness level, I'll have the confidence to go out and do what I want.0 -
not confident at all..I have body dysmorphic disorder so I am probably odd0

It's uncommon and misunderstood. But it doesn't make you odd.0 -
I'm confident, and I have been my entire life, even before I lost weight. But the funny thing is, before I lost weight I was an arrogant kind of confident - more cocky than anything...and it wasn't to mask insecurity, I was just a cocky kid/teen, and it got me into trouble a lot because I would never back down to anything, even stupid stuff. But since I've gotten in better shape, my inner confidence hasn't changed at all, but how I exude that confidence has. I'm not cocky anymore (well, unless im playing someone is soccer or volleyball cause I will kick your *kitten*)......but other than that, it's a subtle confidence, which i'm sure is just a sign of maturity.....just my two cents!0

This^, though I make a point not to be arrogant like my peers. I think when you are overweight you tend think that others judge and you shy away from society.0 -
It depends on what I'm wearing...I love fashion and if I do not look fashionable then I am not confident at all.0

I'm most confident when I am working (behind a camera).
In day-to-day life, I find that the better I eat, and even if I just do something as miniscule as a 20 minute walk, I feel that much more confident.
It doesn't help that I am at my heaviest I have been EVER, but hopefully I'll be putting an end to that soon.0 -
How confident are you in your body/mind/personal life/work life
Body - not so much
Mind - somewhat
Personal life - I have my insecurities
Work life - I'm confident in how I work and the amount of work I complete.
When I start working out I feel more confident in myself, but then people say things to me that deflate me. I remember when I lost my first 10 lbs after getting back on the wagon and a person asked me if I was pregnant. I about cried because I was holding myself so well and I was so proud of myself. To get that comment was a low blow.
Does the lack of confidence affect how you view others who are more confident?
Makes me envious of their confidence. I wish I could hold myself as well as them.
Are you bolder than others to hide that lack of confidence?
No. I actually wish I would speak my mind to people that are bolder than me. I just hate confrontation.0 -
i lack confidence in every way x0

On mfp or other sites then yes I am very confident, but in reall life Im not. Honestly for the most part I am a extremly shy person, I hate talking to people I dont know, and I always feel like people are judging me.0

Since losing weight I have become more confident, in my dress and attitude. I smile alot more - wear nice clothes (instead of sweats) - wear makeup - and actually care about heels. I care about my over-all look and take care to make sure I look at least presentable. Oh and it's weird but I love earrings now.
I need to work on my confidence at the gym though. The Smith Machine is right next to the free weights where all the guys that know what they are doing - are doing their thing. I always skip out on my leg work out because I not confident enough to go and just do what i need to do. They probably wont notice or even care but it still intimides me.0 -
I tend to have a lot of social anxiety but I have noticed since I have started working on being more healthy that my confidence has improved.
I was discussing this with my GF the other night, I told her I have more self confidence now than I ever have.
I still need to work on this but it's coming along.0 -
You know, I don't know.
I feel very confident sometimes and then feel not so confident.
They say usually the people that seem the most secure are the most insecure and sometimes I question myself on this. I love me but there's also stuff I need to work on that I hate about myself. I think I'm a pretty cool gal but then I wonder what people really think about me.
I'm not sure if I'm normal or if it's lack of confidence. I'm working on this in life right now. I'm 32 and have never felt as strong but again, I question whether or not it's real.
:ohwell: :frown:
I'm just nuts!0 -
I used to be severely socially anxious because of the weight I put on. I absolutely hate attention (for the most part), negative or positive- so I guess you could say I am lacking confidence. The better I feel about myself, my weight, and the fact I am in a very secure relationship with an adoring man, has helped me a lot. Not to mention just growing up a bit. I am naturally shy but when I gained weight that just made matters worse. Now that I am looking better and better, I am feeling that way too!0

body - so-so. I am confident in my body, but not my head shape (i know that is random, but it bothers me sooo much...one reason i am dieting). =/
mind - Not enough. I need to work to become a stronger, more confident person as everything starts in the mind!
personal - Very. I have never had a problem with friendships, despite my awkwardness.
career - Very. It has never been a cause of worry for me. I get what I want ^^0
