Cows milk is for baby cows.

Nuts, Grains and Berrys are your friend.

If it didnt grow in the ground, piss on the ground or swing in the water dont eat it.

Good food does not come with a barcode and a box.

    :)
  • I am trying (and not succeeding too well) on this, but my favorite blog is www.paleoadventure.com -- total paleo food porn and she's SO active, it's inspiring to watch her eat, work out, etc. But I'd love some advice from other members too!

You should be able to use the search functionality to find Paleo groups.

I follow http://www.marksdailyapple.com/ and robbwolf.com/ in Google Reader. They both update their blogs frequently and post videos, recipes, and q+a's.

IMO it's the easiest "diet" to stick with if you're not a carbaholic.

My biggest tip when first starting out is to completely 100% purge your kitchen and pantry.

Keep the paleo/primal food... donate/trash the rest. If there is no "bad food" for you in the house, then it is impossible to cheat without leaving the house.

My entire family lives a paleo / primal lifestyle now for the past four months (22 June 2011) and in that time I have lost 84lbs, wife has lost 55lbs, and our athletic daughter has trimmed down 16lbs before dive season.

I've been eating Primal (similar to Paleo) for 4 months now, and I absolutely love it. I eat yummy, delicious, real food, and don't feel at all deprived... And the weight is melting off. Falling off. It's quite wonderful. :)

The biggest challenge for me is my boyfriend. He lives an anti-paleo lifestyle. Basically everything a normal person shouldn't eat, he eats. (And he somehow stays incredibly slim and in shape) Maybe I will divide up the pantry and make a "His and Her's" side. LOL

Here is how I lost 25 pounds, one I think make it a goal to cut back on sugars. You might be taking so much sugars that you need to start reading lables. I first started reducing my sugar intake for a month and the weight starting coming off. Then I moved to talkling carbs, which means reducing them not eliminating them. I think most people are taking in hugh loads of carbs 200 to 300 grams a day so I started by reducing my intake after two months I had lost 10 pounds.

Google Gary Taubes he has a great book out there. I am reading the Paleo solution by robb wolf right now which might give you a better understanding of how eating paleo is benificial to your body. I have gone through a divorce and being umployed for 18 months but managed to stay on track by eating paleo. I could also advocate the divorce diet that took me down to my goal of 200 but I dont think you want that stress.

I also believe that logging all your food helps no matter what you eat. I made a hugh mistake by eating a snack that was given to me by a paleo follower but I come to find out that snacks has about 50 grams of carbs. I bet you I wont lose any weight today. Log your food no matter what diet you are on.

Finally let everyone here help you and support you.

Keep reading/researching. Some very good authors have been recommended in this thread -- there are a few other good ones. Go to amazon and do a search for "paleo diet".
    Keep logging what you eat.
Follow your own path and what works best for you.

I agree. We are all tolerant of different foods.

Primal Body, Primal Mind by Nora Gedgaudas is another good book to read.

    Don't forget nomnompaleo!
Shop only at greengrocer, butcher, fishmonger or outside lanes of the supermarket for your food ( where fresh food is refrigerated).
Look for farmer's markets to buy in season, produce - it's fresher and cheaper too.
Learn to enjoy and take pride in cooking from scratch if you don't already- have respect for the food you eat, use all of the meat, make bone broth! Use all of the egg. My pet hate is food wasting !!

Buy the book Practical Paleo, its great, especially if you are just starting out. It has multiple 30 day meal plans and there are even grocery lists for those meal plans available on the website. I'm doing one of the meal plans now and it is rocking my world :)

If you feel yourself get hungry, grab the nearest insect or small animal, then eat it. If not, you aren't Paleo.
