How to Curb Hunger?

I drink tons of water, I try to distract myself by going on walks . . . yet I still find myself super hungry some days, even though I eat all the calories MFP says I should. What do you successful folks do to be less hungry? Is it about self-control and just letting your stomach grumble, or are there things I can do to actually feel full?

Make sure your getting between 28-30 grams of fiber per day, MFP has a low setting for fiber, but 28-30 is the recommended amounts. Also include protein with every meal...keeping you full longer.0

Make sure you are getting the most bang for your calorie buck
Protein, fat, fiber, and complex carbs help keep you full. Make sure the calories you eat are not wasted!0 -
not sure what type of foods you are eating, but that could be it. The less processed, and over-made, the better. Fresh fruits, veggies, good fats (almonds, walnuts etc), lean protein.
For me, I find a balance of a healthy carb, lean protein, veggie, and some good fat at each meal helps.
i.e. Chicken Breast, Brown Rice or Yam, Green Beans + some olive oil drizzled on them.
I've also heard Black coffee helps...but obviously this doesn't work at night.
You could try gum and brushing your teeth?
or perhaps you do just need to eat a little more?
MFP isn't exact...it's an estimate. your body may need more food.0 -
Living in a part of the world that suffers no food deprivation we have forgotten that it is normal for you tummy to rumble a little before mealtimes, (emphasis on a little not all day long) it signifies you are hungry. I think of it as a little round of applause for my self restraint in not stuffing my face between meals, which was how I got in this state in the first place. :drinker:
However thats just me, there are lots of low cal things you can use to fill up on. I am sure a ton of suggestions are coming your way right now.:laugh:0 -
Protein does it for me. I like Frigo cheese heads lite string cheese at only 60 calories a stick. They curb my hunger for at least an hour or two between meals. No, you shouldn't feel hungry. When you do it's your body telling you it needs fuel. If you don't eat enough your body will start to go into starvation mode and you will stop losing.0

I find eating an apple helps, medium size is 80cals. Eating lean protein with carb(sweet potato, rice, potato, oatmeal ) helps the carb last instead of spiking your sugar and then dropping. Small meals every 3 hours. Good luck!0

For me thats a sign that I need to increase my calories and eat more... Maybe try that.0

For me, some days I'm simply hungrier that others. I try to respect that. I like yogurt with a couple teaspoons of chopped pecans mixed in. Or I'll chop up an apple and dip it in the yogurt.0
