Of all my targets I have, sugar is the one I stuggle to keep down the most. I like to think I eat quite healthy. I do eat fruits such as apples, grapes and bananas and stay clear of things like chocolate and drink mostly water, but litterally an apple and a banana and im near my maximum.
Any ideas!?

most fruits are totally fine, they have a low glycemic index. Breads, Startches, Sodas have CRAZY amounts of sugar.0

Fruit will make it harder, but fruit is great for you and comes packaged with fiber to process the fructose (which is basically a poison to our bodies). Just keep it to 1-2 pieces a day. Cooking all your own food will let you control your sugar intake - for example, a lot of junk food or processed food you don't really consider sugary will have sugar content. I find that sauces can also be a big culprit!
ALWAYS count the sugar in fruit, I might add - sugar is sugar: the sugar in fruit is no better than table sugar, despite what some people may tell you. But fruit is a great source of other things so it's still worth eating.0 -
A banana and an apple are not much in a day - maybe you are just trying for too low a target and you should be easier on yourself. I have either a banana or grapes everyday and usually other stuff including alcohol and I check my blood sugar every day and its reasonably ok. But if you are really deternined to be low on sugar than cut out starches as well as fruit - they turn straight into sugar inside the body0

oh and cut out booze as well of course0

I always try to eat fresh food. For example my sugar target is 43. I've eaten a banana and an apple so far and im sitting at 33 already. I basically only have 10 left and thats before I have Dinner and including me adding my exercise that I plan on doing later today.0

Since diabetic I have watched my sugar intake for over two years now. Rule of thumb for me is if it's over 8g of sugar per 100 cal... don't have it. Of course fruit is higher they are the exception to my rule. I incorperate at least 2 a day and choose wisely. I've stayed below 40g of sugar a day and still have at least 2 fruits a day..if not 3 andI have lots of veggies.. I stay away from bread and pasta.... limit potatoes and rice... especially during weight loss. Choosing wisely and pre planning helps. An orange is lower, so I normally have one a day then add another whether blueberries, strawberries, raspberries or a medium apple.0
