Ok this might seem strange question...but if I have a really bad day and go over my calories badly (e.g. had work party, ended up eating terrible food and drinking cocktails and no idea exactly what I had but i'm sure it was WAY over) when would the weight hit me? would the next morning when I wake up and weigh myself...is that as bad as it's going to get? or would it be in a day or two that I would see it hit?

If you go over 3500, you'll have a lb. Actually, if you're cheating with salty/sodium foods, you may show weight gain due to fluid retention. Drink lots of water!0

i'm on a 1200 daily calorie. Usually I'm between 50-200 calories under my limit (with food + exercise, I do alot of exercise). but yeah was trying to figure out if it would hit me the next day if I go drastically over or if it would slowly appear over next few days.0

well, speaking from personal experience, i once went to a bbq, and really indulged. i think i went over by about 1200 calories. however it was mostly grilled meat, no carbs save for two hamburger buns and about 6 beers. i knew that it was a possibility, so i had a huge burn that morning by doing about 20 miles on my bike. i ended up losing a half a pound by the next day.
but i'm also a guy, and my body is waaaaaaaaaay different then yours.0 -
Like losing weight, gaining weight takes a long time. It doesn't happen overnight. Do some extra cardio to make yourself feel better about it mentally.0

it may not hurt you at all a cheat day once in a while may actualy jump start your metabolism again makeing you more efective at your weight loss.
I would still drink lots of water do to the added sodium (that tipicaly shows up for me the next morning but upping my water normaly flushes it right out by the next day).0 -

this too, but i hate the term "cheat day." it implies a lack of control over your calorie intake and food choices. i prefer "spike day" because you can still eat a lot, but still make good choices with carbs, protein, and veggies.0 -
Usually when I go out and drink alcohol.. instead of putting on weight I'd be slimmer the day after, I guess all the dancing helps, but it's funny because I expect to be heavier, but I'm usually lighter. If it's just with food it takes two days to find some extra weight on the scale, but I've also noticed that if I eat loads and work out as soon as possible after that, I end up losing more weight than actually putting any in!:D0
