Eating Late At Night??

So growing up I always heard that it was not good for you to eat past a certain hour, with my schedule now it is kind of hard to follow that rule! I was wondering if eating late really does matter? A typical day for me is working until 6:30 PM heading to the gym right after and staying there until 8:30 or so. I usually eat dinner around 9- 9:30 PM. Does this affect my weight loss, or not so much??
