So, I started on MFP at the beginning of August and have lost 26 pounds since then. I have also run my first 5K, which was also the first athletic competition I have participated in since high school. Now I am planning a triathlon, not an Ironman or anything crazy like that. It will have a 1000m swim, 12 mile bike ride, and 5k run. I feel fairly confident I could complete any one of those components individually, but altogether is certainly a little daunting. The triathlon isn't until spring so I have more than enough time to train, but I am definitely looking for some tips or if someone knows of a website with training programs, etc that would be extremely helpful. I am really excited to meet this challenge and I know with the right prep I can totally kick its butt!

I have completed 4 sprint triathlons. I used beginnertriathlete.com. They have a 13 week training program for beginners that maps out everyday for you. It makes the training really easy. I would also recommend getting a road bike. I made the mistake of buying a hybrid bike and I have to work a lot harder than most people on the bike portion. Good Luck. I Love doing them
  • It does sound daunting. I didn't think I was going to finish my first tri (Oly distance like you) but I did. Then I doubled the distance and still did it.... then I doubled the distance again. Well, Ill tell you in 5 weeks if I do that one, but you get the drift. You'll do fine.
