started out at 240 pounds, purged my way down to 140.
i started college recently and gained about 20 pounds in about 2 weeks.. its crazy.. i usually binge eat, and go crazy for a couple weeks, and then fast for a week to lose the weight i gained.. those 20 pounds have currently put me at 160 pounds..

but i recently decided i want to keep losing weight in a healthy way :) right now im doing the special k diet, i haven't purged in 3 weeks, and i feel satisfied and happy :) so i hope keeping track of my calories, i can eat right.. maybe raise my metabolism back to normal.. :) if you guys have similar struggles, or tips i'd love the support :)

I struggled with it in high school. (looking at me now you would never guess)
Feel free to add me, maybe we can help each other? Good luck with everything!

Well one tip would be is definitely don't fast any more. All that does is put your body in starvation mode and will cause you to do gain weight.

i was both anorexic and bulimic from ages 13 - 21. its something that is always in the back of your mind like a drug addict. i joined this site for support to lose weight the right way.

i had to teach myself how to eat basically. and in the process i gained weight, also after leaving a extremely abusive 3 yr relationship. ive lost almost 30 lbs the right way. but its hard. i want to slip into my old ways but ive stayed strong.

good luck to you. and i am glad you are healthy.

Yeah I had one it was called Eatingwaytoomuchism. I never gained weight but it broke my wallet's back.
  • Unfortunately, yes. I've had an eating disorder for 7 years. It comes and goes, but I know exactly what you are going through. Congrats on not purging and trying to lose weight at a healthy pace. :)

You wouldn't ever have known it by looking at me (always been overweight) but I binged and purged a lot in high school up to about mid-twenties. The last time I purged I was 28 and swear it felt like my heart was palpitating or skipping beats all day. I now have severe acid reflux and other stomache ailments probably most due to the binging & purging. To be honest even at 35 (and I haven't purged in 6-7 years) I still get the urge from time to time. But I control it. Unfortunately my main problem, besides the stomache issues, is that I don't always control the binge part - for me it is emotional. But I am getting it more and more under control. At least the urge to purge (pardon the rhyme) aren't overwhelming any longer. The only thing I can tell you is if you feel comfortable talking to a professional you may want to take advantage of the counselors at your college - you may not notice health issues now but later on in life you might. Otherwise, you will have to do a lot of soul searching to figure out what your triggers are and try to avoid them or minimize them if possible. Good Luck!!
  • thankyou so much for sharing your story.. that is one reason i have kept my eating habits a secret... i have never been underweight. i always thought how can someone that is fat have an eating disorder? ..
i am glad to hear that you have gained the control, and thank you for the advice.
    =)
