    It's nice to be able to see the progress of people I know and try to compete with others.

    Right up my geek alley - former Sims object developer here. I guess making objects isn't EXACTLY the same as playing with them or playing those games with constant challenges and goals (sims is famous for NOT having goals actually) but I guess making better and better objects was single-minded and driven enough to count.
