views of exercise and food on rest days

This is something that has been happening more and more recently. I Have been developing this tenuous relationship with food. When I work out, I eat as much as I want and I feel full and good and usually come in where I want on my calorie counting. On days which i try to rest I feel like I have to scrimp and save calories so that I have enough until the end of the day.
does anyone else feel like this? guh, its frustrating me!

I so totally so! I have one rest day a week. And I always feel like if I eat more than my cals, its going to turn out bad. I am still moving around and doing things, just not killing it at the gym. So i purposefully try not to snack. And then dinner for the rest nights is so small like a can of tune and fresh spinach0

Mee tooo and I hate it... LOL Just try and be good as possible might get alittle Wii in or something just to have a little extra because 1200 is just not enough sometimes.... Tomorrow is my rest and I need it so I will eat up today! Good luck0

motivates me to workout because being ~100 pounds and 4'11 means I burn like nothing without a workout. 1200-1400 calories to MAINTAIN when inactive...yowsa. I'd starve!0

I feel the same way- and I've tried sticking to just 1200 calories on those days but I usually find it too hard, and then I usually end up eating more than I do on days when I workout! (because I get stressed out and just write off the day as a "bad day") pretty counter-productive if you ask me!
So I've gotten a bit creative on my off days (which is usually just 1 day a week...I really enjoy working out!)... I try to take extra walks, I log any cleaning that I do, I might even just give myself an extra 100 calories and not have anything real to pin it to- but I know that if I get even 300 extra calories for the day I am way more likely to stick to my goal. 1500 calories is way better than freaking out and eating 2500 calories!
I guess you could call what I do "cheating", but I certainly don't view it that way. Adding those extra calories prevents me from binging and overeating- and that is a win in my book! Not saying it will work for everyone, but it works for me.0 -
YES! I feel like this! and then feel "obligated" to not take a rest day. I cannot figure out what I'm s'posed to do on my so-called "off" days - I either have to exercise or not eat. I agree that 1200 calories is just not enough.
wait. could this mean that I'm actually becoming more active..?
AND, does anyone else have the problem that the site tells you cannot eat LESS than 1200?? How do I do that? Can't eat more, can't eat less!
not fair.

Guess what I just did. "Customized" my goals. I went to my home, "goals" and then changed my daily calorie intake to 1250. I plan to dedicate that 50 calories to protein so I'm not going to bed hungry. Well, I had to try something!
Have a nice day!

I totally have the same problem! On my days I exercise I am just not hungry and don't have much of an appetite. However the next day, I am absolutely ravenous and cannot get enough food in my mouth!0

oh my goodness. weighed myself this morning & I have been eating over my calorie allowance all week - and lost 2 lbs! Now that gives you something to think about...
Re-look at what you're eating and change it around...
Good luck, Pals!

I take 2 rest days a week, and when I do I don't worry too much about calories - I try to stay somewhere in a deficit, but up to maintenance is 100% fine by me.0
