I tried it years ago. It did not work for me. But it is really hard to relax me enough to make me suseptable to impression. I never was able to make it to the hypnosis stage. If you know you can relax quickly in different surroundings, or you have been hypnotized before, it might work.
Hope this helps!

Even if it worked, all hypnosis would do is increase your determination to lose weight. It wouldn't actually CAUSE you to lose. You're doing great without it, I say, why bother?0

I have used a self hypnosis CD by Paul McKenna called "I can make you thin" It did work for me in the beginning mainly by way of suggestion ie; chew your food thoroughly, enjoy each mouthful etc it helped me :blushing: especially as I was in the right frame of mind which helps.
It also prompted me to start my journey here on MFP  and look how well I am doing with the assistance and motivation from all of my MFP'ers :flowerforyou: :drinker:
My motto is try it BUT put yourself in the right frame of mind
Life may not be the party we hoped for :grumble: :explode: but while we are here we might as well dance! :drinker: :blushing:"0 -
I am trying something similar, called CVR - creative visualization and relaxation. The person that talks on this makes all the suggestions...drink water, exercise, eat fruits and veggies, chew your food, don't eat at night.
I don't know if it is my own determination or the help of CVR but I am eating right ( haven't weighed myself yet to see, but my clothes are looser)
If nothing else, it's that one other thing that helps, besides I feel so relaxed after...that's a bonus!0 -

I think hypnosis does work if you find the proper therapist/professional depending on a number of thing. Some folks aren't good candidates for hypnosis, other more so. But be sure you have some clue on the person that's created the tape and and a bit of understanding on their real background.
Good luck with whatever you decide.:flowerforyou:

It works, however your milage may vary. You also need to continually go through hypnotherapy for the impression to last. Hypnotic suggestions are like any other kind of memory.. if it isn't refreshed, your brain lets it wither and start to dissapear. That's why if you get a self-hypnosis cd its best to use it daily.0

Hmm. Thanks for the info. I got into a discussion about it with some co-workers and was wondering other opinions. I am a big ole skeptic myself but it doesn't hurt to explore other options. Thanks!0
