Hey all,
so I have finally decided that I am going to do it TODAY!!! i am going to clean and rearrange my whole room which has not been cleaned in over a year (i know, i know) and this would probably be a good 4 hours at the very least...
Should I log this as exercise or not?

dude, f*** yeah! I count everything except sitting on my butt watching tv as some form of exercise! even walking and standing burn calories, and they have a section for cleaning.0

how about yes IF you break a good sweat0

If you walk around withboxes yes.
If you just mill around the room shifting things, then no.
Either way its activity and you aren't eating.0 -
I would as it's not a regular activity - but I would try and be conservative when looking at how many calories I burnt doing it, just to make sure I'm not cheating myself.0

but don't confuse these kinds of activities with the activity level you set in your goal. unless you picked the sedentary option, these are daily activities...0

definitly, i log all of my cleaning as excercise:)0

Absolutely. So long as it is outside your normal daily activity, then yes, you should count it.0

Absolutely if you get your heart rate up. What i do is every few minutes while cleaning, i do some jumping jacks and push ups to increase the HR. Good luck.0

Yes you should even small activity helps you are still moving and I've notice when I was searching for exercise they actually have some ideas you can put it under the catagory they have listed. I vacuumed that day and it was a light exercise I put it under. They I know have one called moving heavy boxes if that what you end up doing. Check it out. For me when I do the wii and it calls for putting in exercise it gave me that idea to search it here. Hope that's clear to you0

I wouldn't as i think it counts as regular activity.
Look at this way - if you count it, it might be cheating as at least part of it might be regular activity.
If you don't count it and you happen to burn extra calories that day which you aren't tempted to eat back (because it isn't registered with MFP) you'll just loose weight extra quicker.
I think if you are ever not sure if you should count something as exercise, don't, and it is just a bonus.0 -
I work at a pizza place two 3 days a week. on those days i usually dont go to the gym, but i put in my 5 hour shift as exercise! I try not to eat those extra calories (although sometimes i succum to the tempation of hot pizza in front of my face for 5 hours straight!), but it feels good to see at the end of the day that I have had some exercise. I only burn around 450 calories in 5 hours which seems like a lot, but its really not considering the time. So i say YES! even if it is just to make you feel good about having done something physical today.0
