Who lives in an apartment?

I live in an apartment on the 3rd floor, been here for three weeks now. I having been doing the 30 Day Shred for a week now, but I feel like I am not pushing myself because of the fact that we live on top of someone. I try to exercise at a decent time throughout the week like about 12pm or 1pm, but today I exercised at 6pm. Instead of doing the jumping jacks I just did the punching because I feel like I am making too much noise, so I had like 100 less calories than usual. Does anyone else who exercise and live in an apartment feel the same way?

I live in an apt. If its a reasonable time of the day I say just do all out0

I do it on my porch if I do it.0

My neighbors below me keep me up at night with their... "fun" so I don't feel bad making some noise. If only the guy were ugly instead of gorgeous... :sad:0

I only worry about it if it's before 8am or after 10pm. Lol. Otherwise, I go all out. :happy:0

Check your state for noise ordinances...
Then introduce yourself to your below neighbors saying something like, "Hi, I'm commited to following a strict exercise regime and was wondering if there are specific times of the day when it's NOT okay for me to do my exercise video? Your comfort is important to me, and I'd like to respect your hours."0 -

Speaking of this................... :explode:0 -
Everyone in my building is young and noisy....so I don't care.0

Yes I try not to do mountain climbers or jumping jacks because I feel like I'm bothering them. We have my roommate's Wii here and I wanted to bring home Just Dance 3 from home this weekend, but I can't do it without making noise!0

I live on the 5th floor and do it mostly in the afternoon but I have done it at night before. I have never had any complaints so I don't even think about it. There are other tenants who are way more obnoxiously loud.0

Middle of the day, like you said, is fine. You may want to also take advantage of the fact you have 3 flights of stairs at your avail! Best of luck in your weight loss!0

yes i live on the third floor as well it is a work out by itself to walk those steps. it is hard to exercise knowing the neighbors below you can hear. do they have a gym on site that you can go to as well. if you are exercising at a reasonable time then it doesnt matter. i try to do it earlier in the day.0

Might be good to talk to the downstairs neighbor and find out what time would be the least intrusive to them. Thankfully I am the downstairs condo and my upstairs neighbor is pretty good.0

I lived in a 3rd floor apartment for 5 years and my wife and I tortured the people downstairs from 7 to 8 every night with both is us doing step aerobics.
One thing we did that seemed to help was to get a large throw rug that we put down over our other throw rug when we were working out.
You might try a local gym so you can work out at home less. I only pay $45 per month at New York Sports Club and I know that YMCAs will let you pay what you can afford.

That's a good suggestion. If they have a baby that naps between 12 and 1, they'll hate you, but if you check with them, maybe you can work something out. My daughter lives below someone who loves Dance, Dance, Revolution, and it isn't fun.0 -
i constantly bug my neighbor below me about this. She reassures me that she hears nothing from me or my daughter who is 6. I just try to be as light on my toes as possible. It is worse when doing burpees or mountain climbers. I would just talk to to person below you about it. We are on the 3rd floor too. We will be moving soon so i am happy abt this as I want a treadmill!0

I live in a two story building, and I don't do videos because i know our floors are very thin and you can hear stuff! but i would take the advice of trying to talk to the neighbor. see when they don't care or aren't around!0
