I remember hanging @ my local gym I was hearing a trainer tell this young girl what to eat what not to eat. For the most part the trainer was giving her good, accurate advice. He then got to the part of late night eating. "Don't eat past 7PM! Your body will shut down and your calories burned will decrease." He then looks at me, like asking for approval. What I wanted to say was
"Buddy, I eat @ 10pm, 2am, 4am and still lost weight. WHEN you eat doesn't matter it's WHAT you eat and how much that matters." but instead I just smilled. I wanted to tell the girl that he was wrong but I haven't seen her in months. I think she hasn't been back to the gym. ) =0 -

I was told the same by a trainer at the gym. I was telling him how working out gave me a huge appetite and he said "Oh but you shouldn't eat ANYTHING after your evening workout!". Yeah, right!0 -

When I hear people talking about GOOD foods and BAD foods... as if having one bite of a Mars bar will send you into insulin shock and pile on 10x the fat content. :noway:
I know most of us fatties have had issues with food and eating in the past (otherwise we wouldn't be overweight) but to say you can't have certain food stuffs because they make you fat is utter bunkum.
Sure there are foods which are nutrient dense and can be enjoyed in greater quantities than those which are high-Cal/high-fat which ought to be enjoyed in moderation, but we need to enjoy life and that means enjoying what we eat otherwise we're just going to be in a vicious battle with our cravings and that cannot be healthy :ohwell:0 -
Oh Kendra, water is processed by the immune system is definitely high on my list now!!
The worse for me are the things that I hear come out of doctors mouths (dietitian pet hate!!):
* You should cut out all carbohydrates if you develop gestational diabetes
* You don't have worry about eating gluten free just because you have coeliac disease, the choice is yours, kind of like me and smoking (not me, the doctor!)
* A chocolate bar is nutritionally the same as a prescribable, nutritionally complete high protein supplement drink
These are just a few that spring to mind!0 -
Carbs are the devil
Fat free food is the "key"
Heavy lifting makes women bulky
1000 calories a day is healthy
Jamba juice is a "diet drink" hahaha! Girls at work.
LOL @ the Jamba Juice part! and I personally know plenty of smaller heavy lifter women!0 -
Today someone wrote "if you wait until you're hungry to eat, you'll go into starvation mode".
I wanted to poke my eye out with a pencil.
Hahaha. I know what you mean. I actually had a lady I work with ask me what I eat for breakfast and I told her I usually don't eat anything cause i'm usually not hungry in the mornings. I then tried telling her I could go without lunch and not eat anything till dinner and I could still lose weight as long as I stay within my calories for the day. She replied saying your body will go into starvation mode if you do that and she heard it from her pre-med daughter and she is smart so she is going to listen to her LOL. I just left it alone after that.0 -
From the book '' the dunk diet" : That vegetarians are a sub human species
OH MY GOD! I'm not a vegetarian by the way, but how can they even get away with saying that!?!
grr curse the iPhone and it's auto incorrect feature. its from '' the dukan diet''. i actually threw the book straight into the bin as soon as I read that. the idiot who wrote it also goes on about how diet sodas are wonderful for sugar junkies and a great REPLACEMENT for water if you don't enjoy water.0 -
I particularly enjoy it when someone joins the site and posts about how they have been eating their calories every day and walking three times a week but hasn't lost any weight and some Einstein tells them they must be putting on muscle. :noway:0
