well three words but ...
It seems wrong that the stores will even sell us margarine. We use it to avoid butter and fat and calories and we avoid fat and calories to get healthy? I cannot even think about eating margarine after all I have read. Just go the web and enter margarine. . Does anyone have a good reason as in healthy, to put margarine in your body?

I have been doing alot of reading and for a healthy lifestyle, avoiding calories is not where I am supposed to be focused. Rather on avoiding empty or bad calories. Margarine is almost always given a negative slant unless it is a margarine company putting out the info. Is margarine healthy or just a way to avoid the fat and calories of butter?

I don't know, but your topic title cracked me up.
  • I am like you and worry about avoiding "bad or empty" calories. A book I read that I absolutely believe in is "Eating for Life" and it says to avoid butter and margarine at all costs.

There is actually a product called "butter buds" that is a butter/margarine substitute that doesn't have all that crap in it and hardly any calories. I will NOT :noway: use butter/margarine ever!!

Eating for Life is an awesome book if none of you have read it. It's not a diet, it teaches you how to eat!!
  • Margarine...one word...GROSS! Margarine, like many foods out there, is a nasty concoction that at one point people thought would be better for you than butter. My advice is to stay away from it, and use real, unsalted butter, and just don't use a lot. Natural is usually the way to go...

I once read that maragrine was invented to fatten up turkeys but the farmers weren't buying it, so they colored it, flavored it, and sold it to you know who............

We buy that olivio kind or whatever. It's supposed to be healthier for your heart because it's made with olive oil.
  • I buy the Brummel & Brown Yogurt Butter. The numbers seem to indicate to me that it's a better alternative. AND it's VERY good to the taste! I still eat it moderately, however.
