I am starting week 3 this week and would love to connect with a few others for motivation. Perhaps we can have a weekly goal? I just signed up to this site so I would love some direction, and some week 3 partners.

I'm doing C25k, but I'll be taking a two week break. When I return, I will restart week 4. Maybe I'll check in and see where you are at then. Good luck!

I just downloaded the myfitness app. I cannot seem to access the message boards from my phone, is this an option?

I'm on Week 2 of the C25K, and noticed that it was a little harder this morning. Crazy - adding 30 secs to the run would make much difference. I'm planning on sticking with it though.
As far as the message boards from the phone ~ I'm not able to access the message boards from my Ipod touch, only "my home". I think the message boards would be a great idea to have available from the handheld devices.

Are you using any of the C25K apps for the phone? I'm needing to purchase one tonight.

I have downloaded a few apps for free. The one I am staying with is called couch to 5k and their icon is a "@ and under it C25K". The others I tried I did not like. However this app would not be good if you are outside running because if you move the phone to its size it starts the time over. Teh other one I had but it I did not like because it was not as simple as the one I am using now is called rundouble (again its free)

No, you can't access the boards through the app. What I have done, though, is created a bookmark to the site, and an icon on my iPhone that just takes me directly to the boards. It works, but it is pretty slow.

    Regarding Apps:

I started off using the Official C25k app on my iPhone. It only lasted till the beginning of week 3 before I ditched it. I like the app just fine, but I didn't like lugging my iPhone around on the runs (the gps was temperamental anyway) so I bought one of those armbands for it. That was fine too, but I quickly got tired of prying my iPhone out of its case so it would fit into the armband, blah, blah, blah. Plus it got all sweaty.

What I eventually did, and I am super happy with it, is just subscribed to the Podrunner podcast and copied it to my tiny little old school ipod shuffle. Perfect. Same intervals (their music though) but no iBrick to carry around. And it's free.

One thing I've noticed about C25k is that each new week seems to be way harder than the one before (to me anyway). At first, I couldn't believe that they would bump the length of the run intervals by so much (almost double). But the other welcome observation that I've made is that endurance seems to increase rapidly. While the first day of a new week seems like it will almost kill me, by day three, I feel like I've got it.

However, during my first two days of week 4, I had to walk a little longer between my run intervals. By the time I return to it in two weeks, I will probably have to do that again. At any rate, I'm kind of a perfectionist, so I won't move on to week 5 until I can do week four 3 times exactly as programmed.

I turned my phone on at the gym and had no clue what the intervals would have in store for me. I almost fell over when I saw 3 minutes! But I survived (barley) and icing my knee!

  • I completed my 2nd day of Week 3 today. I still can't believe that I was able to run for 3 minutes without stopping. I try and take things one day at a time and just keeping pushing myself to finish the run.
