Today is THAT Monday

Yep. You know the one. "I am going to start Monday". I have been on MFP since Jan 3 and am ashamed to admit it is my third Monday. Life got in the way...as always. When I started Jan 3, I was in a desperate race to lose weight by my 40th. Well, I didn't and you know what?? NOTHING happened! I lived through it. Nobody left my life because I was a chubby 40 year old. My family still loves me just the same. Odd...... I thought I was going to DIE if I did not lose the weight.
I came to a startling realization that this is all about me. As a SAHM who lives in the country 3 1/2 hours away from her family.....NOTHING is all about me. SO, I am going to try to embrace this journey......again. It is MINE all MINE. I will not DIE if I eat Halloween candy, or the Thanksgiving dinner, or whatever Christmas throws at me. When I started on Jan 3, I was logging my food and water like I was going to get paid. Eat a bite....RUN to the computer and log it. Would feel disappointed if I only burned 350 calories when some of my MFP friends were posting 1000+ burns. I lost 3 pounds in 8 months. Quit logging and relaxed a bit and lost 4 in a month. SOO, for some of us, we might have to attack this like an intruder (believe me I do believe all this weight is an alien intruder). BUT, for some of us, slow and steady and RELAXED might win the race.
So, for all of you out there that this is THAT Monday.....it is your journey. Don't let anyone make you feel bad about what you are doing, eating, exercising. Happy Monday everyone!

Good perspective Redd,
Do it because it's a healthy lifestyle. Do it because it will enhance every other area of your life, and probably prolong it.
We're with you.
Welcome back0 -
Like babies learning to walk, they fall, maybe cry a bit, sometimes giggle, but they get back up and keep trying!0

Bear in mind, lots of people lost weight long before there were weight-loss sites at all.
It's a tool. It may or may not be for everyone, and the important thing should be trends, not methods. It sounds like you're doing well, whether it's as fast as others is of no importance.
MFP isn't going to pay you, it's not a cult, and you're not a worse person than I am just because it's been three weeks since I didn't drink my 8+ cups of water in a day.
That's an important reality check ... thanks for sharing!0 -

I am with you. Today is my Monday as well. I did really well this spring to cut 24lbs and was doing great but then my wife got sick and couldn't work for a month so I had to take a second job which trashed my diet and exercise schedule. I have gained a majority of it back now. The worst part is that when I lost originally I shed fat from all over my body. But now I have gained it back so quickly it has all come back in my belly and thighs so it is really noticeable and really uncomfortable.
Biting the bullet and making time to make it work. I did it before just need to pick it up where I left off.0
