So, I was suspended off the forum for a week. I thought I would miss not being able to respond to post, but I really did not. I did miss being able to respond to my challenges, but found a way around that so no problems there. Why am I venting in Success Stories section you may ask. First...because I want to. Next is to heap accolades on myself for my unsuccessful attempt at running 13.1 miles yesterday. Unsuccessful? Yes! Unsuccssful.
You see, I was running at a nice pace and was well on my way to meet my goal of under 3 hours when I got a phone call from the wife telling me that my 4yo had hurt her finger on the pool table. Now she did say that she was ok, and that she should be fine until I got home, but that is not the type of parent I am. Nothing comes before my wife and kids. I told her I was a mile from home and would be there in a few minutes. So I cut my run short and went home. When I got there, I looked to see my distance and I had covered exactly 9 miles in 1:43:31. That gave me a pace of 11:29min/mile. Even if I finished the next 4 miles at my normal walking pace of 15 min/mile, I would have met my goal of under 3 hours. I probably could have done better, but the world will never know. The only thing I know is that my baby girl was elated to see her "Doctor Daddy" and she stopped crying as soon as I place the band-aid on her finger. That gave me a feeling that even completing a marathon in 2 hours could not give me. For those who don't have children, you may not understand this, but so of you can relate. I do not measure my success by what I do, but by who I am. A husband, father, and a man who takes care of his family. Getting healthy and staying healthy is an important part of that because I need to be here for the ones who depend on me most. I realized that yesterday. But then again, I always knew that. I just needed an 8 ball in the corner pocket to remind me.
Have an awesome week, my friends and keep doing it for you...and the ones that depend on you.
P.S. I also weighed myself this weekend for the first time in 5 weeks, and lost 8.6 pounds. I am 0.8 pounds from 1-derland...

LOL..that is too funny! I had read a thread about some people that were "in time out" for a couple of weeks...now I know who one of them was! Welcome back! :flowerforyou: - I will keep an eye out for your posts!0

Good job man, way to keep the priorities in order. By the way, welcome back to the boards.0

Great inspiration....I completely understand - I would do absolutely anything for my kids as any good parent would. Part of the reason I am on this journey is for my family - I want to be a healthier me so I can be a better wife, mother and someday (long time from now) a grandmother. You may not have finished your run, but you were completely successful because you did what you needed to do for your little girl! Nothing is more important or can make you more successful than that!0
