I was looking at amazon for calipers. I've decided that since I'm so dependent on bf% to monitor my health as opposed to the scale I really need to buy a set instead of begging the pt at my gym to give me a free reading every couple of months. In particular, the hubs and I got into a discussion about my look this weekend, and I've been maintaining weight while building muscle. Seeing as I started at a low bf% when I started lifting I can see his concern despite not personally seeing it in the mirror. So . . . I need calipers. Here's my big question:

Old fashioned or digital?

    Neither.

Calipers are useful in the hands of someone who has been trained to use them properly, and has had a TON of practice, but are horribly inaccurate otherwise.

Furthermore, it is impossible to accurately caliper yourself.

I go to the school gym and they don't even have anyone that'll do those. All they do is the hand-held impedance things.

I have no idea which are better. Is it hard to do on yourself?

I wouldn't do it myself, that's the nice thing about being married and having friends, there's always someone around to give you a pinch.
