i'm not losing!
last semester, i worked out alllllll the time (every night, for at least 30-45 minutes). but i was working out to burn off all the extra calories i had eaten during the day.
this semester, i'm student teaching, and barely have time to BREATHE. i haven't worked out since i've been back (over 2 weeks); however, i'm meeting my net calorie goal every day. i haven't been going over, and actually find myself at the end of the day finding something to eat so i can go over 1200 (i'll be around 1000-1100, but don't want to eat less than 1200 a day for fear of gaining weight in starvation mode!). but even though im not going over in my daily calories, i just look... like im getting bigger. i know, i know, i should measure and stuff, but i remember what my body looked like a few weeks ago, and it definately doesnt look that way now.
is it because i'm not working out? i just don't understand... before i worked out so i could burn off the extra calories i ate; now i'm not working out, but i'm not going over in calories... so shouldn't i be getting skinnier because i'm eating so that i have a 3500 cal deficit/week?
I started Spring Break Boot Camp today, which meets once a week; so hopefully that will help me get back into the swing of working out... i just can't find TIME.
ughhh. any tips, motivation, etc would be greatly appreciated!

You could be "softening up" from losing some of your muscle...so maybe if you are losing lbs or inches you could still FEEL flabbier. I'm in my last semester of school and I too am very short on time! Just work out when you can and eat right and the weight will come off!
just keep it up! :flowerforyou:0 -
I know...it's hard. I've been teaching for 7 years and by the end of the day you just want to crawl in bed and relax. BUT I promise you it does get easier and you will have time for the gym everyday. The hardest part is just getting to the gym, once I'm there, it is so much easier and I feel so much better. SO, I don't have an answer for you as to why your body is looking different, but I can tell you that the time will come that you're not so exhausted at the end of the day and you will have extra time to get to the gym.
Some of us teachers even walk at recess so we are not just sitting there....just an idea0 -
First of all... welcome to teaching! :flowerforyou:
Your body may be looking different since you stopped working out because you're losing muscle mass. To fight the flab, try doing real fast muscle workouts - like right after you wake up. 1 minute of crunches, 1 minute pushups, 1 minute squats. Three minutes of exercise and you'll help keep the muscle!!
Also, perhaps you're so busy that your body needs MORE than 1200 calories to keep it from "starving". Trying upping your intake to 1300 or 1400. Just for 2 or 3 weeks. See what happens.0 -
thank you all so much!!
it's great to hear from another college senior who's feeling the pressure. It's also so great to hear from teachers, and to hear that when I start working, I CAN make going to the gym work (even though it's tough right now). That's been a big concern of mine. I can (maybe) take a semester of not as much working out, but I know that when I start working, exercise will HAVE to be a part of my daily routine!
I'll try doing a little muscle work everyday. Every little bit counts.
Thanks again, you all have definitely brightened my spirits in the midst of lesson planning and not working out like i would love to!0
