Master of sabotage!

I do great for a few weeks. I mean really, really great. Eat clean, have a treat if I'm terribly craving one. Workout consistantly and feel fantastic. Mood is elevated, mindset is clear, energy to burn, happy happy joy joy!! BUT then. I sabotage my efforts every freakin' time. Does this happen to anyone else? How do I break past that 3 week barrier? Starting fresh today AGAIN. PS, I let stress dictate my nutrition...I run to chocolate, literally. Wondering if I should take some supplements...chromium, CLA (perhaps a lobotomy, lol ) Took them after I had my son to help keep me on an even weight loss keel. Anyhoo, it's annoying that I can't get past 21 days. Heard a long time ago, it takes 3 weeks to make or break a habit...HELLLP, I'm in limbo!

If it's every 3 weeks... Is it at all related to TOM? I know I get crazy cravings then and if you're crampy or bloated, you don't feel like exercising.
I try to give in to the cravings in moderation (logged and counted) and drag myself to the gym anyway, but I have pretty easy periods.0 -
I thought this post was going to be about my sister! lol! She is my master of sabotage! Seems she likes to feed me more when im actually being successful!! Hang in there girlfriend! Its not the end of the world if you need a day to eat whatever, especially if your getting right back on the healthy wagon! It is not realistic to completely rid your life of foods you love!!0

I used to do a lot of stress eating/emotional eating, and I found that I had to FORCE myself to ask this question EVERY time I wanted to put something into my mouth - "Am I REALLY hungry? Do I need to eat this?"
Usually, the answer was no. At first, it was kind of hard, but the more I did it, the easier it became, and now it's a non-issue. Maybe if you tape those questions on your fridge, pantry, etc, it may help remind you to ask yourself if you are eating b/c you are truly hungry, or just stressed.
I don't know if that helps any, but it worked for me.0 -

It can relate to this, but if I'm aware, stay focused, and watch what I eat (no processed foods, they trigger a chocolate/sugar attack), I can fight the fight, lol. It's mostly just 3 weeks though. Maybe I just conk out and become lazy, I don't know.0 -
I have the same problem. I have been on this site since August but have had two re-starts. I get very excited about things start dieting an excericising like crazy and then seem to burn out.
So this time instead of going all out and excercising like mad and cutting out all bad food stuffs. I am taking it slower. First I cut down the size of my portions, then when I felt I had that under control, I started to change what I was eating, then a bit of excercise (have had health and joint problems which stopped me for a while) not massive amounts but enough to be managable and then I will start to increase it.
I am hoping by going slow I won't burn out before it becomes a habit. Time will tell. The important thing is to keep trying. :happy:0 -
I have that happen too. Usually my "crazy time" is related to ovulation or TOM. I've found that if I just go with it for a couple days then get right back on the healthy track, it's okay. Having a few off days is not a big deal for me. I don't have to be perfect all the time. I know my weight is going to shoot up for a few days and then it comes off plus some extra usually. You have to be able to reign yourself in though afterwards. You can't let 1 or 2 days turn into weeks....0

If you have just one bad day every three weeks I wouldn't worry about it so much as long as you don't go completely crazy and eat your body weight in chocolate. The key is to get right back on track!0
