dead lifts.. cleans wth am I doing?

I am working out with a friend of mine on saturdays (she is taking a fitness course at our college- no credit) and she has us using a bar to do the following exercise:

wide stance, soft knees- jump to bring the bar up to the chest, then jump again to thrust weight above head, lower back to ankles and repeat.

What is this? it's not a deadlift as I know it, nor is it a clean... sooo anyone have any ideas?
