For me,it would have been my grandmother, she died years ago from diabetes and suffered pretty bad from it.She didn't eat good and didn't exercise either. If she was here now and with the knowledge that I have of food and exercising,i know her life could've been a lil better. But you learn from that.I don't want my son going thru the same thing with me.My mom last yr also found out she had it and that was my wake up call,im happy that I have her here now,but also shows me that getting healthy and exercising is very important, because it will catch up with you.Thats why I need to keep moving and can't give up!!!!!!!

Only one? I would help my kids to learn from my mistakes but because they haven't made my mistakes as yet, it would have to be my Mum. She is morbidly obese, can barely move with arthritis, has high blood pressure etc etc, but says she is happy. So if she was also healthy she would be happy for a lot longer and that would be a good thing all round.0

Either my relative that died of AIDS(when it was new) or one of the many relatives that died quite young from illnesses related to smoking.0

Verily those diseases are wake up calls and I know exactly what you mean,, I lost both my grandmothers a year apart from it. So who would I save?..They are on my list. So I know actually what you mean and how you feel. The more knowledge we have about our bodies, the more we want to take better care of it.0

Interesting thread, as I was actually thinking about this yesterday!
I would help my grandmother. If I lived closer to her, I would be on this in a heartbeat (she's in NY, I'm in VA, so it's near impossible). She has very bad diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, swollen legs, and can't even get out of a chair without being out of breath. I fear for her daily, and really wish I could help her. I know she would like to spend her remaining years healthy, I just know she doesn't have the tools to do so, and my family around her doesn't either. Makes me sad.0 -
My dad. He just doesn't watch what he eats, has diabetes due to his habits and smoked a majority of his life. He says he quit though, but I'm not 100% sure he still doesn't do it in private somewhere. It's like he doesn't care. You'd think a heart attack would be enough incentive to get yourself into gear and get that body in shape. Nope, not him. He needs to do something before it's too late.0

My older son......never listens to my healthy eating comments. We go jogging on the weekends, but during week days its much harder for me to keep an eye on him due to my job. My family is mostly obese so dont want him to fall into that category at such an early age..hes only 110

This question easy ....my brother I wish he would lose weight it runs in my family and my dad died at the age of 51 he was so overweight that he needed a special hospital bed for him cuz he was so large. My brother is up there to in size and age but he isn't do much I almost want him to go on the biggest loser. I love him very much and would like to help him but he' lives too far away from me.0
