I am so over being sick. I have not exercised in over a week. Last week due to doctors orders and now this week I have a head cold that I woke up to this morning. (which explains why I was so exhausted yesterday) and the funny thing is I have been on antibiotics.

My worry is, how hard is it going to be to get back to exercising? I was suppose to start C25K wk 5 last Monday and Wk 6 today and I dont have the energy to walk around the block right now. Any great idea's to help get this head cold to take a hike?

I hate being sick..

  • It sucks, but at least you're eating healthy to get your immune system back up.

Sometimes when your body shuts down, its trying to tell you that it needs a break.
So take it easy, relax and look after yourself.
The cold will go and in no time you will be back on your feet!

I sympathize! I have been unable to keep food down for at least a week. The doctor thinks I have gallstones; I'm just waiting for results of the ultrasound. If that's what it is, I'll have to have surgery to have the gallbladder removed. I haven't been able to exercise because I'm not even managing to pull 1200 calories of food, so I have zero energy to exercise. I dread having to get back into my exercise; I was only a month in and will now have to backtrack. But I'll have to just bite the bullet and do it, I guess. I figure that even if it's several steps back, I'll probably still be better off than I was before I started!

    Hope you feel better soon!

Go back two weeks of C25K when you start back..... and then see how you feel and make necessary adjustments. Back in February I got sick and a whole lot of other stuff. I ended up being out of running for a week, and started back one week. I repeated the week, and finished the rest of the program on schedule.
Just don't rush it, and listen to your body. Go slower the first few "runs" back, and drink plenty of fluids.

If you're on anti-biotics and they're not helping, then you're more than likely to have a virus as antibiotics don't work on them. Best thing to do is to let your body do the healing and try and do a little bit of exercise. Not so much that you get your heart racing etc, but just to keep active.

Hope you feel better soon though
