Hi,

I have been loving documenting my food and exercise, but really need some clarity.

Today for example, it says my goal is 1370 calories. I ate 1773, but burned 1235 with exercise today and have a net of 538 and then also says 832 calories remaining.

I understand I burned quite a bit exercising today which is why I can justify eating 1773, but why 832 calories remaining?
And is the net of 538 what I burned in total today? I know 3500 calories equals 1 pound. I am just super confused and could use some help.

Thanks!

It is saying that you haven't eaten all of the calories needed to keep your body working efficiently because you worked off most of the calories by exercising...which means you have 832 calories remaining to eat...but if it's late and you're not hungry, don't worry about it...
But, I would try to figure my exercise calories in the morning for the day so you can eat what you need throughout the day....That's what i do based on the type of exercise I do all the time....

the net is actually what you ate after the exercise calories were subtracted...

Hey there. Little math involved, but I understand where it's confusing. This is my best explanation (hopefully clear):

    Your daily allotment: 1370
Exercise Calories earned: 1235 (fantastic by the way)
    Food intake: 1773

    1370 + 1235= 2605. Minus what you ate...
    2605 - 1773= 832. This is your calories remaining.

But because you ate some of your exercise calories back you netted 538 (1773 - 1235).

Technically, you gave your body 538 calories to run on for the day because you burned so much by exercising. This is why people clamber about eating their exercise calories back. My opinion, do what works if you are seeing results and feel ok (not starved or lacking energy). Good luck to you.

Thank you both! I appreciate the replies.
I also noticed another post similar to what I was asking as well.
    Very helpful community!
It is definitely interesting being able to track all of this and see what does work for us.... and I honestly think you have to be ready to discipline yourself to track in consistently!

    Thanks again!
