How much sodium should we have per day?

  • im attempting under 1000mg a day. as it helps make you retain water.

    I aim for 1500 - but only get 700-1000 usually after i cut the processed food

    No more than 1500mg per day. But that can also depend on the individual. Depending on your health issues, you may want to use less..........

    The American Heart Association says 1500mg per day, the standard is 2500mg. If you're active and sweating, you need to get a little more than the minimum because you excrete sodium through sweat and it is vital for hydration balance.

    2500 is a little high, not entirely sure why MFP suggests that. Like others have said 1500 or below is good.
