hey gal, I bet you will enjoy it more if the trainer has some women only classes. Also, if anyone starts getting bitc%y with you and harrasses you because you are a woman (in other words, no respect given), leave. Don't sign any membership contracts. Your trainer will push you, and probably make you cry, but for your betterment, never to belittle you. If he/she belittles you, leave.

Boxing coaches are a dime a dozen, but a good gym will really coach the newbie boxer. If you are not getting any coaching, but rather are the "fresh meat" that the older students pound on, LeAVe immedietely because that situation only gets worse.

There are two kinds of trainers, those that care and those that don't. Best wishes, happy trainer hunting. Keep us posted on what you get into!

Wow - thanks for that! I was thinking more about the fitness side of things but can see how your advice will come in handy. I will let you know how it goes.

Don't be afraid of cardio. It will help you go many rounds.
Don't be afraid of weights, it will make you hard and safe.
Don't be afraid of the bags, hit them with all you got, and train with gusto.
And never, NEVER be afraid of your opponent.
